Has anyone ever attended a Board of Directors meeting? I'll be at MGV (hopefully) next week and the Board of Directors meeting will occur during that week. I'm thinking of attending. What should I expect? How long do they last?

I've gone twice and wish I could go this year, but we won't be there. The BOD meeting is much more interesting than the annual meeting. At least if you are a numbers person. They did provide a pretty good lunch. I wouldn't necessarily take the whole family. I think you may need to RSVP. The discussion at the BOD meeting is more in depth. Talking about individual budget line items. They do have a short question and answer period that they try to move through very quickly without really wanting to answer any real questions. It would be good to get an idea of how they think the new Florida condo laws will impact reserve funding in the years to come.

From looking at the proposed MGV budget you posted in another thread, it appears they are looking to fully fund the reserves as the reserve replacement is going from $400 ish to just over $1K. Further, nobody has heard of a requested vote to approve anything else, specifically to approve not fully funding.
.

My MGV transfer completed last week.

The proposed budgets always show reserves as being fully funded. They have always been that way. In the past when the vote to waive would pass, the final budget was reduced to reflect the lower reserve funding. There was a proxy item to vote to waive fully funded reserves which the BOD recommends.

How do I RSVP? I received a letter about the BOD meeting, with the agenda and the accompanying numbers. But nowhere does it say anything about RSVPing. My spouse is a big numbers person and he wants to attend, but the timeshares are in a trust under my name.

I went back and looked at the email. I don't see anything about RSVP, so perhaps that isn't necessary. There is a name of an executive assistant with an email and telephone number. You may want to email and confirm.

For many years my stay at a Hawaii resort coincided with the BOD meeting. I always attended and found that they gave incite as to what was going on and why. I even ended up serving on the Board for several years. If you can, GO.

Two years ago I attended the Annual Board meeting at Shadow Ridge and found it to be well worthwhile. We were actually taken on a Preview Tour of their planned remodel of the SR villas and were able to give our opinions of the changes. Also they gave the info as to how the MF were going to look for the coming year and why. When the MF came out ~ a month later, they were as advertised. It was 3 hours well spent.

To the best of my knowledge, at MVC resorts in Europe and Asia, owners cannot attend the BOD Meetings but can attend the follow up AGMs which I often do.
