We're leaving on Saturday for Harborside. We haven't been there in 2 years. Do I recall a post months ago that they had removed the micro/convection ovens and replaced them with plain microwaves? Thanks.

We're in a unit with the new microwaves and they definitely have a convection feature. Not that it's much of a substitute for a real oven, though...

Thank you Okiwiater! No way we can cook a turkey in it!

I started that thread, which is here.

I'm still pretty sure my unit was microwave only, but there have been several reports of units having the microwave/convection combo. Maybe its hit or miss, maybe I was wrong (though I looked pretty closely at my unit and I usually don't miss that kind of stuff).

Can you actually get a decent turkey there? I don't think I would enjoy the Thanksgiving cooking experience at Harborside because of the tool limitations. YMMV. But, it sounds like you will have a nice time with your large crew.

No turkey at Harborside! :). We're going to the BBQ restaurant for our turkey. That should be interesting!

We brought frozen half turkeys with us and will be braising them in the large pots, just like we did last year. Some of the best turkey we've had, but as you say, YMMV.

I see that foodstore2go.com has Butter Ball Turkey breasts. If you have 2 microwaves, you could make 2 of them that way assuming everyone likes white meat. okwiater: are you there now? If so, what building?

Didn't think of that. How's the weather now?

Very rainy today but the past week hasn't been bad -- lots of clouds with some sun. Great temperatures and rain mostly just overnight.

How long are the lines at the water park?

Are tickets to the games still available? I'm not interested but my son-in-law might be.

Just left yesterday. Our unit had a convection microwave, but didn't have a rack that was mentioned in the operation menu. Unit 4700.

I used the convection oven to make a breakfast casserole yesterday and it worked great and browned nicely. I'm pretty sure you could do a small turkey. The micro is pretty big. The next time I'm going to try it. With the lockoff microwave, we could do 2 turkeys.

Hi Suzannesimon,

Hope you had a fabulous trip! I would love to hear your any comments or reviews you would like to share. We go in about 12 weeks (last visit was over 2 years ago) and are really looking forward to it! How are the rooms holding up? I just saw they are planning some refurbishments to soft goods starting in mid 2016.

Also, if you have any info on the internet service and costs? Thanks so much!

We had a wonderful trip! The Internet is $24.95/day for 4 devices. Unlike the last time there, however, my ATand T LTE service was working on my IPhone. I signed up for international data before I left home.

The weather was what I expected for this time of year - 75-80 with lots of wind and pretty cloudy, not much rain though. It's what we experienced during a Thanksgiving week on Singer Island in Florida. Hotter would have been nicer with so many water activities, but it doesn't seem to bother the kids at all. We'll go back in a couple years when my youngest grandson hits 48 inches. He tried to sneak on the big water slides with his brother, but, alas, was busted at the top and turned away. We all enjoyed the Rapids River.

The units - we had 2 three-bedrooms - were very nice. Furniture, rugs etc were in excellent condition. We asked to be on the same floor and they placed us on the second floor of Bldg 5 next door to each other. Mine was overlooking the pool, mostly blocked by Palm trees but the lock-off had wide open- water views as did my daughter's whole unit next door.

Grocery delivery service is excellent and expensive ($13 for Oreo cookies). Have them deliver what you need for the first couple days and then take the daily shuttle to the store for $7 round trip. I bought a Cuisinart grill (George foreman-type) and packed it in my suitcase. It worked great as we grilled meat on it for 12 people.

Best family vacation place ever!

Thanks so much for the reply! We love it there and can't wait to go back. Glad to hear the rooms were in good shape! The internet has really jumped up in price! But since I can't live without it because of work, it sounds like we will be purchasing the plan.

The grocery delivery sounds like a good idea for us this trip as we arrive early in the day and wont have anywhere to store groceries before check-in. It used to be that they would store them for you and put cold items in a fridge but I saw on the Harborside page that they won't hold them anymore.

Glad you had a great trip!

Was your AT&T LTE speed acceptable?

For small items that don't need to be refrigerated or can be carried, you can you to a store across the street from the marina village...
