Hi-this is my first post after lurking for a while! My wife and I did the timeshare tour at the westin maui villas on our honeymoon and loved the concept! However I kept having a feeling during the presentation that this must be available cheaper somewhere! I ended up here and now I am looking to purchase a resale week at Harborside as we both love that resort. My question is some listing list a "resort transfer fee", often of $1500+. Is this a true fee imposed by harborside/svo or just a money making concept by the sellers. Thank you in advance for help with my question!

My understanding is that there is a pretty substantial fee that is charged for a Bahamian timeshare transfer. I don't think in this case that it's just a money maker. But I could be wrong...

You need a lawyer to do the transfer. It does costs $1500.

Welcome to TUG! :hi:

When you have time, check out all the resources we have at the top of the board - I'd start with the Starwood FAQ.

You can expect to pay $1500-$3000 to settle your Harborside resale. The reason is that the transaction has to handled by a Lawyer in the Bahamas. If you need a reference, I used Beverly Sawyer, and her company had my Harborside resale closed in 4 weeks!
