We're heading to Harborside in a week and just had a few questions:

1. II confirmation lists 179998 as unit #... would this be 1799 and 1798 (Bldg 3)?

2. Should we take our snorkeling equipment?

3. Do they still have a bus to the grocery store-if so, how much?

4. As Starwood Gold AMEX members, will we get 3 Starpoints for every dollar we spend ?

5. Any free internet access on the property? How much is it in the room?

6. We own 2 Starwood properties (WSJ and SDO). If I requested an upper unit with a view, would our ownership help us get this? Our exchange was with II-does Starwood have anything to do with unit assignement or should I just contact the resort directly?

7. Will our Sprint cell phones work here?

I think that's it for now...Thanks!

1. Your unit will be assigned at checkin.
2. I have never taken snorkel equipment as we usually spend our time at the water parks or being lazy by the beach. I also do not remember ever seeing anyone snorkel around the resort area.
3. The shuttle to the grocery store is reasonable (I think that it is less than $10 per person).
4. Don't know.
5. I have never had success with free internet. I think that it is about $10 per day from the room. Phase 1 is also now hard wired in (finally).
6. Probably not.
7. AT&T and Verizon worked there but I am not sure about Sprint. You could probably wait for another answer on this on the board or check Sprint's site.

Have a great trip!!!

1 and 7. You can always email Harborside and ask for a specific room. Buildings are assigned based on your day of week arrival. Doesn't mean you'll get it, but if you don't ask... It often seems that room request stuff you ask for via MSC or at SVO doesn't get to the Bahamas.

2. The only place to snorkel is at the Cove beach (check the map on Atlantis.com). It has a small reef. Not Hawaii, not St John, but better than nothing. The Atlantis beach doesn't have any place to snorkel.

3. Bus runs daily. Price was $7, may have gone up since August.

4. Don't know. I didn't pay attention -- that's the DH's job.

5. There is internet access in the room. I think there's a charge.

6. Depends on your phone and if you have a plan that works in the Bahamas. You'll need to go online or call them to make sure. For example, my phone worked in the Bahamas but not in London.

Have a great time!

15 minute per day free internet

If you schlep over to the Library (which is in one of the older hotel towers, forget the name of it though) you can sign up for 15 minutes of free computer access each day. They're pretty rigid and make you get off after your 15 minutes. There's usually a line of people waiting.

The time to get to the Library is at 10:07 in the morning if it opens at 10 (or 7 minutes after it opens). The 10-10:15 people will be almost done and the line hasn't formed, giving you your 15 mintues of time with almost no waiting. If you go at the end of the day there's a chance you won't get on.

We were in Nassau in December. The ocean water felt to cold to snorkel. Also the water was very choppy most days. No one was in the water more than a few minutes.

4. No, you don't get bonus StarPoints by paying with your Starwood Amex. It is as if it is not a Starwood property.

1. Just returned a little over a week ago and WE did happen to get the same unit that was on our confirmation. (We were thrilled as it was the 1 bdrm side of a 3bdrm lock-off which is a bit larger)

2. I didn't spend a ton of time in the water as it was a bit too cool. Not cold, and certainly fine for snorkeling, but I preferred the heated Atlantis pools...especially considering the snorkeling isn't that great.

3. Grocery store run was still $7

5. Internet was $15/day or $50 for a 5 day package at Harborside. The library at Atlantis does still offer 15 minutes free each day. We paid for 5 days and were given a code that we were able to use on up to 4 computers at once. Wireless by the pools and a cord in the rooms (our cord was hidden behind the sofa but once found was quite long).

7. YES, my Sprint phone worked fine there. I believe it was $2/minute for voice calls.

As I mentioned earlier, if I go into my II Account, the only number I can find is "179998". After looking at the Phase II map on TUG, I did find a 1798 and 1799 in Bldg. 3. We are confirmed into a 2BR lockout. Am I reading this right?
This unit is on the first floor in Bldg 3 (not the best location, but I'm not complaining :) ) Thanks to all who have answered my questions.
