The Bahamas has extended the stay home orders for Nassau through May 30th (there goes my Memorial Day weekend wishes), I’m hearing mid June open but I don’t think that will be the case as well since the new re open plan has been laid out. Opening the island to tourists is the last phase. I’m thinking July open?

What is not included are what are their requirements to move through the phases, so who knows? As other tourist areas (rightly or wrongly, not judging) begin to reopen, there is going to be tremendous pressure for all tourism-based economies to reopen, so I'm leaning on a quick movement through phases as long as the numbers don't really spike.

I wish the rest of the islands would be like BVI and just close everything until September. At least they are upfront in their closures instead of dragging out the dates like all the other islands. All of them don't want to rush it, but don't want to give a timeline either.

It was posted in the Hawaii forum this could be a blueprint for opening up Hawaii. I stated there that with tourism relegated to Phase 5 there is not enough money to sustain Phases 2, 3 and 4. Quite the conundrum.

It’s easy for BVI to do that. Other islands don’t have the backing of other economies. Bahamas economy is dependent on tourism.

I am having a hard time finding the information that BVI is going to be closed until September. The official site only mentions June 2nd. Where did you read that information?

Latest bulletin on US embassy website says no international flights at least till May 30. AA has earliest flight from MIA to NAS now scheduled for June 4.

We were scheduled to go early June so hopefully I can now get a refund for the flights instead of a credit. If we still wanted to go, rebooking for mid-June would save us a few hundred dollars Already canceled HRA booking at 60+ days so can always bank the options if we don't rebook. But at this point, we may just hold off on Atlantis and hope to take our July trip in the US (AZ and Cali). A water park doesn't seem like much fun when everyone is worried about a contagious disease...

Then again, a water park could be incredibly fun when everyone else is worried about a contagious disease... ;)

I distance there anyway. Pick a spot on the beach where there is no one.

I’m scheduled for mid June but it’s looking unlikely. I think they are waiting to see the US cases go down drastically. I expect resorts to open with little to no cruise action

We just cancelled our two fixed early July weeks @ Harborside. After canceling our month in Cabo at the last minute in March, and a trip to the east coast in April, I just don't have the heart to plan another fly-to vacation until things calm down. :(
