Ride the lazy river:

Swim in the Caves pool:

Swim at the beach by the Coral / Beach towers (it's GONE!)

but, there are less steps to walk down - the beach is washed into the stairway!

Oh No...

Does anyone know if this is all of this due to the in-climate weather (ie Hurricane) a few weeks ago? Obviously the beach erosion issue is, but the pool and lazy river too? Or are they doing maintenance like they always seem to do right before Thanksgiving?:wall: Any timetable given for fixes?

Thankfully there are a ton of options still left. The lazy river was closed when we were there for 4th of July. I asked a few staffers and no one seemed to know when it would reopen. My 8yo non thrill seeker kept talking about going to the lazy river and I kept diverting her attention to other fun things and touring other pools. We had a blast at the pool with the deejay near Coral. People were dancing and at one point everyone in the pool was holding hands and doing a Conga line - what a memory! If We were staying in Beach tower I would have been even more disappointed and I've seen some pretty harsh Atlantis reviews because of this pool closure. I'm hoping it's because of the Marriott partnership and they are renovating Beach to bring it up to Autograph standards. Not sure I would want to be in that tower until it was renovated. Hopefully you are finding lots of other things to do!

But wait! There's MORE you can't do - like eat at these places that are CLOSED!

Plato's - closed for renovations
Voyager's Lobby Bar - closed until 12/16
Cave Grill - closed until 12/16 (maybe that's when the pool and lazy river re-open?
Seagrapes - closed until 12/16
Bimini Road - closed until 11/1
Chop Stix - closed until 11/8
Virgil's closed until 11/1
Mesa Grill - closed forever

better bring some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!

Wow this should be fun...bringing friends along next month. Can't wait to show them where stuff used to be! We usually plan to eat out maybe twice, but our friends do not plan on cooking at all. (Maybe breakfast)

:DBTW love the corgi, I have a tri-colored 10 year old femaie. Mine's tiny only 18 lbs. Total bundle of energy still, will wear your arm out playing fetch.

Peanut is a 35#, 12 year old female. Her hips are bad, but she's a sweety!

Don't worry about the restaurants - there are still a ton that are open! Just bring your gold card!
(Try the new place Olive's - in the casino)

Its pretty normal for Atlantis to shut down the River Pool and Lazy River in hurricane season. Prior to my Harborside days, we'd visit in September, and they'd have the entire Beach Tower shut down and the lazy river and river pool closed.

The beach by the old beach bar has been shifting for years. Much of it is the natural ebb and flow beach sand has from season to season. But this looks like the smallest beach I've seen in 15 years.

There are a good number of new things on the way...I know I saw an email announcing what would be replacing Mesa Grill, but can't find any of the specifics. There's a new Margaritaville on the way to Paradise Island: http://www.margaritavillebahamas.com/

And yes, it looks to me like 12/16 is the planned re-opening of the beach tower and its amenities.

How is the weather in October? I would think hot/humid/rainy? Thinking about a future October trip....

Best,

Greg

October is usually when the weather turns from hot and humid to warm and a bit drier. It is near the end of hurricane season. It's better than September, but you can never be too sure what to expect in October. We took a chance because we had the time to do it. I wasn't expecting so much closure, and there has been so much rain recently that the main road through Nassau is flooded, about a foot deep. The driver says the drains are all clogged up and they don't have the money to get them cleaned out. I won't be coming back this time of year. I usually prefer May, but the spring breakers can really ruin your day.

Was the rapid river still open? We prefer that to lazy river anyway.
Bummer that Mesa Grill is closed permanently. Had a memorable meal there. We enjoyed it more than Nobu...

The good news is we got the best view ever! Directly across from the main entrance to the Royal Towers with a view of the marina! There are some HUGE yachts here now because the ocean has been so rough.

Yes, the rapids are running. Everything from the Blue Pool to the Baths pool is business as usual. One exception is there are NO manta rays left in the dig. I always liked to see those guys.

Wow what a great view! i wonder what kind of tour that boar is going on? The only boat tour I've seen has been the booze cruise. I've been to Harborside for the 4th of July and Thanksgiving and was fortunate to have great trips both times (my view wasn't anywhere near as nice). Didn't hear about Mesa closure but know they are re-doing Marketplace with new name and design.

Ps I loved the mantas too. I did some research and found the others were returned home. You should look for the videos....I actually cried. They use a helicopter - Amazing job

Nice view! Are you in Building 1? Our view from Blg 1 seemed to be similar...

yes, building 1, room 4724. If only I could trim the palm trees a bit I'd get an even better view! We were so surprised to get this view, and mentioned how we always seemed to get stuck in building 6. The desk said all you have to do is ask for what you want.

I had that view at the end of January. I know people say you don't need the view there because you are always are out of the room. But I'll take that view anytime as opposed to bridge view or internal view, even if it is enjoyed for a couple of minutes every day.

Sea Six - is your dog a Corgi?

What building are you in? We'll be in Bldg 5 for Thanksgiving. I've never been there when the Lazy River was open. Hopefully they won't close the Unlazy River.

He is building 1 fourth floor.

Thanks for the update. Will be there next week for a "girls" trip. Nice to know what is open so I can let evereyone know what to expect.
Lazy river was closed last year this time when DH and I were there
How has the weather been?

How has the weather been?

The weather has been terrible, but we just got here. The main street in Nassau is under a foot of water. The winds have been 20-30 MPH for several days - so bad that 150' yachts have moored here to get out of the rough seas. Today the winds died down and the sun came out, for the first time in over a week. It will be nice for the next 2 weeks until we leave.

We were in 4716, a corner unit. Really like it...

The Caves and Lazy River were closed when we were there at the first week of June - it's still/again closed?

We will be there in two weeks for our 25th wedding anniversary. Hopefully the weather cooperates and nothing else shuts down.
Still trying to figure out what to do other than sit on beach all week.
Wife was looking at the dolphin encounters and snorkeling.
How expensive are these activities?

How to Get a good 1 bedroom unit

We are going over Pres. Week and Ik it will be packed. We actually are reserved for a Thursday but won't fly in until Fri. feb 12th. How can we get a good unit and do we need to tell them we will be flying in on Fri. And be there by noon? Any suggestions would be helpful:)
