I was looking for availability at Harborside to book one night to use on a cruise. I noticed that there is now a 3 night minimum stay. When did that happen? It was a nice perk to get a room for the day use.

This is the message when I was looking for one night. I got the same message for two nights but found availability if I searched for 3 nights.

HARBORSIDE RESORT AT ATLANTIS
NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS
Search Tip: The resort you selected has a minimum stay restriction during the requested timeframe. Please modify and search again.

It might just be for the time of year you are going. When were you going to be there?

Just did a number of test searches for fall weeks and it looks like the three night minimum is in tact for all the dates I checked. This will be a big hit for those that would use the resort for a cheap day pass for Atlantis.

I was checking for mid November - mid December. I also checked for April and May to see if the restriction was lifted within 30 days. I got the same message. I even checked for this week. There is availability but still a 3 night minimum.

Yup. Looks like another change, thanks to Marriott...

It just leaves the potential for more unreserved inventory that Marriott can Hoover up to rent out. These types of one night stays were very low impact on the resort itself. Most times the rooms weren't used at all, though I suspect they still went in and pulled all the linens.

I can say that when we booked to go in September 2022, there was no 3-night minimum.

so, begs the question, can Marriott impose the three day min on StarOptions stays, or is that against the language that likely says something like "you can book stays of one to 21 days starting on any day subject to availability in the network (ie 8mos or less) period"

Well, I think we've probably discovered what Marriott gave to Atlantis in order to get permission to put Harborside into DC points...

do they have a go? I thought the hold up was Bahamian laws not the board or the developer.

Maybe I'm mistaken then. I though the JV structure was an issue with the developer partner also needing to approve.

Atlantis would certainly like the 3 night minimum, because people who would otherwise buy cruise ship passes are doing that instead.

It was my understanding that the hold up for both Harborside and Riverfront were the third party developers involved.

This seems like it’s against VSN rules (but I haven’t checked the fine print,) and also a slippery slope…. If they can do this for Staroption stays here, then why not Maui Orlando too?

3-night minimum has also been in place for Westin St.John for a long time.

I tried looking through the VSN Disclosure Guide for Mandatory owners and couldn't find anything specific about minimum stays. I know on the Marriott side they have had minimum stay requirements for a while and there is verbiage in the Disclosure Guide granting them the ability to do so.

Seems like a restriction they intend to impose in Abound and extended to VSN to “level the playing field”. Whether VSN rules allow it or not doesn’t matter unless there is an outrage like there was when they imposed a guest fee for home resort reservations.

This doesn’t seem accurate. If there is a 3-night restriction it’s not year round. Just searched this now.
