Happy Aloha Friday!!! You can tell it's January as our low temps are reaching the mid-60's and our highs are only about 81. Looks like we may be closing some windows at night at times.

This weeks picture takes us to The Big Island and downtown Kona. Alii Drive goes right along the ocean there and one of the mainstays over many years now is the Royal Kona. This resort is right on the ocean so it has sweeping ocean views. We stayed here on our first trip to The Big Island over a decade ago.

Happy Aloha Friday! We've stayed there several times. On our first two trips it was the Kona Hilton. By 1994, Hilton sold it and it became the Royal Kona Resort. That year we had a room overlooking the Boom Boom Deck. You can see how it got its name. I loved falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves.

Sometimes the waves there get too big and they have to close down the outdoor dining.

Happy Aloha Friday. I'll refrain from the weather report since it virtually mirror's @slip; although, we're not in the mid-60s at night at the moment.
The first is a picture of the bay with a kinda-sorta rainbow from two weeks ago. The second is from when we took the SUPs out on the bay last week. It's not THE sandbar (close proximity), but there are plenty of areas that are shallow in the bay.

Happy Aloha Friday. I forgot what day it was. We didn't take Kai fishing the other day so we did yesterday. He reeled in 24 fish with a little help from me and his dad.

Happy Aloha Friday!!! It's the middle of January and the weather has been pretty nice. 65 at night 81 during the day and no rain for golfing so far this winter.


This week's picture keeps us here on Molokai and up to Kualapuu and the Ironwoods Golf Golf course. This picture is from the first tee overlooking the fairways of the second and fourth holes toward the ocean. It's always nice to get out to Ironwoods to get a round of golf in.

In Maui several years ago, shortly after sunset, we were able to see Jupiter, Mars, and Venus at the same time.

If it's clear on January 21, with the naked eye, you should be able to see 4 planets. With strong binoculars or a telescope, maybe six or seven!

Happy Aloha Friday! It’s a beautiful Friday morning here in northeast Florida, but chilly. It’s been hovering around 40 most mornings with highs in the 50’s. This isn’t what I signed up for! If it doesn’t get more springlike soon, I’m going to demand my money back!

Happy Aloha Friday. I'm back on the mainland for a few weeks visiting DD in Alabama. It's cold! It's currently 32 with a high of 64.

Wow, that's quite a change in weather from Hawaii to Alabama! I bet it feels chilly after being in the warm island climate.

Happy Aloha Fruday !!! We are still in Puerto Vallarta. Sunsets are gorgeous with a good amount of what's called the Golden Hour after sunset. Golden is just part of the colors. We have seen the green flash at sunset often. Oddly, winter at home is kind of warm, like highs in the upper 40s and low 50s.

Happy Aloha Saturday from just north of Houston, where we expect winter precipitation and a hard freeze next week. Our generator is ready in case of power outages, and we’re laying in supplies so that we don’t have to leave the house until any frozen streets have thawed. We know how to drive on ice and snow, but most people here don’t, so we intend to stay hunkered down at home, well out of their way.

Funny, the first time in Hawaii we stayed there and I was excited when we got an ocean front room. My wife had me close the windows because she said the waves noise kept her awake. The next year when we stayed there we had to get a lesser room that didn't face the ocean, but it did overlook the BBQ

That's no joke. If your not used to it, it can be very loud. Once you are used to it, it can be relaxing though.

Happy Aloha Sunday evening. Chilling in a warm Coastal Virginia temperature of 45 degrees.

The temperature in Buffalo, New York for the NFL Game between The Bills and The Raven is a cool 11 degrees with snow on the ground.

That is frigd cold. IMHO

If the Vikings were still in the playoffs, and they were still playing in Met Stadium, they'd be playing with a clear sky and -8 degrees that feels like -22. We're actually looking forward to Tuesday when the temp will hit a high of a balmy 3 degrees ABOVE zero. A people wonder why we want to go to Hawaii every year.
