Went to Hanalei yesterday to the Farmer's Market and to walk the bay (it is a tradition).

The road to Hanalei from Princeville is one lane starting about 200 yards from the bridge. It is a little slow but not the bad. You can see where the hillside gave way and if they would have another deluge there is nothing left to hold the soil; would not be good.

The road is one lane beacause they are re-installing a section of the guard rail that washed out. It looks like they have several more days of work left. They were working on Saturday so they probably are working 7 days a week to get it done. I noticed there were portable light rigs out there too, so maybe they are working into the evening hours.

The beach is a mess. Nothing but drift wood and all kinds of other "stuff." The sand is fine from the high tide line to the break, but above that it is solid junk in parts. There is a driftwood housing development going in on the beach. Some people are very creative!

BTW, there is a new "No Trespassing" sign in the cut in the hedge leading to the house used in "The Descendants." There is a new one in front of the house as well.

Cheers,

Paul

Its already there. We had lunch at Cafe Pesto on BI in Dec and the harbor beach was covered in splintered wood. It was floating over the entire surface of the inlet.

It doesn't matter where the main body is, hell there's a flotilla of styrofoam the size of Texas floating out there too.
