First time to Cabo and can exchange into either early January through RCI. My husband and I and 17 yr old daughter and maybe a friend. Any thoughts on which is nicer and fairing better after Odile? Will spend most of the time at resort. Thanks.

I'm not sure if there is still any lasting damage at Hacienda del Mar but we did stay at PBS in April and PBS has fully recovered and is building 2 new buildings that will probably be completed by January.
Both resorts are isolated and make it nearly impossible to walk to town but both have shuttles that take you to/from town should you want to venture out of the resort for possibly better and definitely more reasonable dining. A rental car is not needed unless you want to spend a day in Todo Santos or the Cerritos surf colony etc. If so, you can get a one day car rental on site at both resorts.
PBS is larger, has more pools and is hilly using golf carts to haul the non walkers around. HdM is flatter, smaller and quieter. Neither have a swimable beach so if that is your interest you must go into town to Medano beach which is swimable.
Both are excellent choices with excellent service, rooms, amenities and grounds.

Definitely PB Sunset. HDM is out on the corridor and I don't think that resort has a free shuttle and it is way out of town. PB Sunset is just up the hill from town. No not walkable unless you really want a hike. The resort does have free shuttles and if not the time you wish to travel the cab would be much cheaper. This timeframe would also be whale watching season and PB Sunset is a great location for just that. Almost all of the rooms are ocean view. I would suggest either building 20,21,22 which are near the sky pool and high up the view is gorgeous.
I love this resort. I actually own a different resort in Cabo that is on Medano beach that I also love, but PB Sunset is a super resort if you just want to kick back and relax.
I have stayed at HDM and not very many oceanview rooms for exchangers and very far out as I mentioned. I would rather stay at a cheap sleep in town then HDM especially if you are going to have teenagers with you.

Go for Sunset for the use of free shuttle to use their resorts on Medano. Best of both worlds, imo.

BTW if you end up going to PBS on an exchange and are not a PBS owner they will of course invite you to see their newest property when you check in. The inside sales ladies will pitch you first- say no as they have only a $200 budget then wait around for the cart to take you to your room and their exit guys will offer you $400 in F&B credit at the resort.
The PBS owners tour budget is still $50 or $75 in F&B for a $20 fee- still not worth is for PBS owners. Take their money and make them cry!
The Resort food is expensive but their 24hr Bistro is "reasonable" and Fridas is nice for a special night out otherwise support the town with your cash dinning pesos/dollars- better food at half the price.
