I just read the reviews for this report trying to determine what transportation options were available once at the resort. A review from 2 years ago said they offered van transportation into CSL at the rate of $10 per person each way. Is this still offered? And how far is the walk to the highway to catch a bus into town? We don't mind walking (usually include hiking into vacations) and we don't want to rent a car that we would probably only use a couple of times. Thanks.

We stayed at the Hacienda del Mar in January. We rented a van from Luis at Alamo for our trip. We didn't use the shuttles from the resort but it is a really long walk from the resort to the road where buses run. If you don't plan on going back and forth to Cabo very much you could just use a car service for airport transfers and use the shuttles from the resort. We loved it there and had a great time.

I was in Cabo in the fall and stayed in the Marina area. Friends stayed at the Hacienda del Mar. While they loved the resort, they felt they were too far from the action of town. While the resort offered a shuttle, they thought it inconvenient and cabbed it to town every day. They ended up spending quite a lot on cab fare!

I think you'd use a car at that location enough to justify renting one. It will be so much more enjoyable to be able to go whenever you want to and not have to rely on the bus or shuttles.
