This is just another way for RCI to gouge the timeshare owner. I have owned timeshare for 20 years and have 10 weeks. I own these deeded weeks free and clear all fees up to date. I feel it is a big rip off I have to pay a guest fee which has again increased to let my children use my week. There should be some way around this. Does any one have any answers on how to avoid this unfair fee?

You don't have to get guest certificates for weeks you own. You can rent them or give them to anybody you want.
If you have deposited them with RCI that is a different matter, even if you obtain an exchange back to your home resort.

Can this guest certificate fee be bypassed by not even mentioning it?
I've never been asked for my I.D. at a resort check-in.
Comments?

$59 for a one-time RCI Guest Certificate. $149 for a five-year Guest Pass, which also allows the recipient access to Last Call and Extra Vacations through the sponsoring member's account.

II Guest Certificates cost $39.

If the resort is within driving distance, I'd show up and do the check-in myself and then leave. But otherwise, the risk isn't worth it - you're right.

RCI Points - You can add 5 people (family or friends) to the RCI Points ownership. You can do this ANYTIME through the VC - Add or Delete. Your family and/or friends will not have to pay the "unfair guest fee".

mrso93,

As Dave M pointed out, you can choose the Guest Pass option for $149, which would allow your children (21 or older) to travel as guests without the Guest Certificate fee for 5 years.

RCI accounts can contain only 2 names. However, spouses have exchange privileges even if not specifically named. If you were to list your name with one of your children, your wife could stll be served. This would eliminate the need for one Guest Pass.

To do this, just submit a signed written request, being sure that the person whose name is being replaced also signs. Send to RCI, PO Box 80229, Indianapolis, IN 46280-0229. Or, fax to 317-805-9335.
