Grocery store near Grand Solmar

We will be arriving at the Grand Solmar next Saturday! Super exited! I have a couple of grocery questions for the experts:

1. What is the closest reasonably priced grocery store to the Grand Solmar? We want to get meat, bread, veggies, alcohol, beer, etc. We will be cooking some meals in and definitely drinking cocktails in the room. :D
2. Our flight arrives at 11:45 am. I know check in is at 4 pm. Should we get groceries on the way to the resort or should we go after we are checked in? I know we will be buying perishables, so that is my main concern. Does GS have a place they store groceries for you until your unit is available?
3.. Does Gran Solmar provide coffee filters and paper towels in the villa or do we need to purchase those ourselves?

Any other tips for us? Less than a week until we are there! :)

The Grand Solmar does provide paper towels and coffee filters and most kitchen basics. Probably best to shop on your way from airport to hotel as you will go right by Mega (San Jose) and Costco (corridor) along your way. By the time you get your luggage, car/car service and shop, you will probably be close to your 4P check-in anyway. There really are no good grocery stores near the GS without driving/taxi service.

You have several options. Arriving at 11:45 means you would expect to get to GS around 2:00 which is 2 hours before check in.
If you are taking a rental car or private transfer then you have time to stop at Walmart on the way in as it's on the main road. The private transfer companies charge you for the stop but it's worth it. This would put you at GS about 1 1/2 hours before checkin. The bell hops will put your groceries in a large tub to get them to your room. Use the cold beer and soda to keep things cool but avoid ice cream etc.

If you are taking a shuttle (Trans cabo or Cape travel) they do not stop for groceries as it's a shared van with usually 8-10 passengers going to multiple resorts in the area. Once the shuttle gets you to GS, drop your bags and you can then take a taxi from the front door to Chedrui, Sorianas or Mega. All are within 2 bocks of each other and about 10-15 min north of GS. Taxi is about 180-200 pesos ($12USD) one way. It's easy to get a taxi back once you come out of the stores. If you plan on going the following morning you can take the white collectivo bus from the round about near GS entry from the Marina to the stores for 12 MXN/person but you will want to take a smaller "white" (local) taxi back.
For quick shopping there is an Oxxo (like a 711) near this same round about which is about a 5 min walk from GS. The Oxxo has everything you need except meat. Your GS room should have paper towels but do bring your own coffee and filters as theirs is $15 for a medium bag of coffee.
enjoy

Thanks to both of you for your replies. Although a big part of me wants to do the shopping before we get to GS, I think we are going to have to wait until we check in. We have one other issue that I forgot to mention. My mom is struggling with cancer and tires very easily. The travel day alone will probably knock her out the rest of the day and maybe even the next day, so the additional grocery stop is probably too much for her. I am guessing we (hubby and I) will take a taxi to Walmart after we check in and my mom is settled in the room.

Thanks again for your replies! I do have coffee already packed. :). Just not filters, as I forgot to buy them and we use Kcups at home with our Keurig.

One more question- we have to stop by the Squid Roe to pick up our Los Cabos passport card. Is that close/walkable/on the way to Walmart?

El Squid Roe is on the other side of the marina from you. I think it would be a nice stroll. Walmart is further Northeast on the main highway.

Edit: I just looked at the map, and I realized I may not have been clear. It is not across the marina per se, but at the far end of the marina. Meaning that if you walk as far as you can along the marina without turning toward Medano Beach, then cross the main road, you are at El Squid Roe. It's a little over a mile walk per google maps pedestrian directions, but it will be an easy walk as there are plenty of distractions along the way, especially as you near the far end of the marina. figure about 45 minutes walking each way if you stroll, 30 if you hoof it.

That's a good idea because it will give you a chance to see what the kitchen is like and how much room there is in the refrigerator. It will be good for you to see what kind of cooking facilities you have before buying a lot of food. Most Cabo timeshares don't have ovens--just cooktops and microwaves.
