Another great movie with Tom Hanks. If you ever did any time in the Navy, it is a must see. Even if you are not familiar with Navy life, the movie showed the sacrifice and dedication by a team of young men on a ship during WWII. It showed that even those men that signed up to be a cook or a clerk went into harms way and didn’t always survive. Tom Hanks is a Destroyer Squadron Commander in charge of four ships guarding a fleet of merchant ships against German submarines. They crossed the Atlantic in 1943 and a major battle takes place. The review below doesn’t give the credit that the movie deserves. For me, it was one of the best war movies I have seen. But I spent two years on a Destroyer Squadron Staff and could understand a lot of details that are normally missed.

More often than not, Tom Hanks = good (or better) movie.
