I got two confirmed weeks via Interval and the confirmation states 1 bedroom "suite" as room type. What does this usually translates too? Studio, suite villa etc or do I have to negotiate the upgrade by going to the sales presentation. (Do not really feel like doing it though.

On our last visit to the GL in PV we got the room with the plunge pool in the balcony. 1 Bedroom.

A Suite is the 1-bedroom unit with the plunge pool on the balcony. So you will have what you had before.

Yes we just confirmed into a 1 bedroom as well for next winter. Says suite but it is the full 1 bedroom.

Does anyone know if the sofa "bed" is any good? My two teens will need to sleep on them and I am wondering if I should bring an air mattress?

My 2 slept on it and didn't complain. I didn't try it, but would imagine it's fine considering it's the Luxxe.

We have used the Mayan Palace sofa beds ( 1 bedroom suite ) and I believe the GL are a similar Mexican design
The MP sofa beds are not like USA ones that fold out as a double but are instead the "daytime sofas " with the back cushions removed . The seating / sleeping cushion is a one piece foam unit covered in soft chenille fabric . Two flat sheets and blankets and pillows are provided per bed .It functions like a single bed .
these are MUCH MUCH more comfortable than any fold out sofa bed design so I do not think an air mattress is needed as those are generally much "bouncier " .

It has been a few years since we did the Mayan "owner tour" to the GL but by memory I think the sofa beds are similar in format .

Perhaps a recent visitor or owner can confirm .

thank you all for your replies. One of the reasons we decided to pick the GL one more time was because we really liked the room layout. We are going in August. (not the best time of they year there, but that's the only time we can go on vacation)

Yes, the "sofa beds" in the GL units consist of the top part of the couch with the back cushions removed. There is also a trundle bed pull-out underneath said couch if necessary.

The trundles and the couch beds are both comfy, I've slept on them in early breastfeeding to give my husband and toddler uninterrupted sleep. They outfit them nicely during turn down service.
