Curious what are max points in grandview ownership?

I see 122,000 and 98,000 etc

I know nothing about points either so not sure of how many points would be in a TPU since I am a weeks owner with RCI.

Thanks to all who reply

122,000 for a 2 br
or 61,000 for a 1 br

RCI is still down but when it is up you can go to the directory and click on the resort. Once it is open on the left you should see the RCI Points Grid.

The 122,000 aren't going cheap these days. They are in the 2500-4000 range for an annual unit.

Do you know off hand how many points equal one TPU or is there no way of figuring this out I am a weeks only owner, but everyone raves at how being a 122,000 points owner at this resort is a good option to have in the arsenal of timeshares.

thanks in advance

They aren't equivalent.

There is inventory that comes into points only (or comes in more reliably) to points only. Points work especially well for smaller units, high season and non points resorts. Example non rated 2 br OBX ( non points resort) in July- 30,000 RCI points vs 38 tpu's

On the flip side trading into places with a lot of inventory or during shoulder or low season especially into points resorts can be a lot higher with points than tpu's. Orlando 3 br in September 101,000 rci points vs 17 tpu's

For the most part in my experience having cheap tpu's beats points, especially if the buy in for the points are high. It is nice to have points for the times when points work out better.

Points have lower exchange rates when exchanging into points inventory. They have priority into resorts with the same management company as the one owned. They have a higher annual membership fee.

EXCHANGE VACATIONS

*Reservation Windows
Home Week: 12-13 months in advance
Home Resort: 11-12 months in advance
Home Group: 10-11 months in advance

USD (RCI.com) USD (call center)
Home Week Reservation (7 nights) No Charge No Charge
Home Resort Reservation (7 nights) $40 $50
RCI Points Reservation: 7+ Nights $169 $179
RCI Points Reservation 6 nights $159 $169
RCI Points Reservation: 5 Nights $139 $149
RCI Points Reservation 4 nights $99 $109
RCI Points Reservation: 3 Nights $79 $89
RCI Points Reservation 2 nights $59 $69
RCI Points Reservation: 1 Nights $39 $49
RCI Weeks Reservation (7 nights) $209 $219

So if you are exchanging into points inventory you could potentially use one $169 exchange fee for up to 21 consecutive days plus points.

If you own in points at that resort and book during the 11-12 booking window for points inventory for a full 7 days (even in a different size unit or season then you own) you can book through RCI for a $40 exchange fee.

I am only a weeks owner at the moment but considering this particular timeshare at the because of cheap flights from where I am to Vegas like under $100.

Do you know if I would/could get a discounted exchange fee as well from RCI owning here with the TPU exchanges from other deposits.

Not sure how that would work if I owned points and TPU timeshares.

No RCI exchange discount on TPU reservations.

RCI Points is points NOT TPU reservations (as you see TPUs reservations run in the 5 to 70 range).
RCI Points are in the 5000-110,000 range AND the discount reservation fee is ONLY in the HOME RESORT BOOKING WINDOW during the 12 month from checkin date.

The 11 month window is for HOME GROUP BOOKING WINDOW and FULL exchange fee.

If you own at any Vacation Villages affiliates and are doing a tpu weeks exchange with a deposit or deposit credit made up of only affiliates the exchange fee is reduced to $139.

If you own at any Vacation Villages affiliates and are doing a tpu weeks exchange with a deposit or deposit credit made up of only affiliates the exchange fee is reduced to $139.

Also on this discount is there any restriction on booking window?

From what I gather grandview points owners have to book 12 months in advance or maybe I am understanding this wrong?

To get the $40 points exchange it has to be your home resort booked 11 months plus one day up to 12 months.

No booking window restriction for the $139 exchange but you cannot combine your deposit with a non vacation village affiliate.

So I am not a points owner with rci if I had 122,000 points how many weekly trips to grandview vegas with RCI is this a year.

122,000 will get you one week in a 2 br during high season.
2 weeks in a 1 br during high season.
more during lower season.

Generally the best use is to exchange for resorts that cost fewer points, not to exchange back in.

Grandview at Las Vegas (#6923)
2 br 1 br
1 - 2 Weekly 61,000 30,500
3 - 8 Weekly 80,000 40,000
9 - 37 Weekly 98,000 49,000
38 - 45 Weekly 122,000 61,000
46 - 47 Weekly 80,000 40,000
48 - 50 Weekly 61,000 30,500

Unless I am misunderstanding your question, TPU's are just the way RCI 'scores' the value of a 'weeks' ownership. You don't convert what is essentially 'weeks' to 'weeks'.

Oh, in that case, yes, some resorts will 'upgrade' your week to RCI Points. It costs the owner about $3000 for something RCI charges the resort a few hundred$ to do. Far better to buy your RCI Points TS from someone who has already converted.
