Today I arrived at Grande Vista (Brrrr…. it is freezing but due to warm up). We own both a 2BR and a 3BR week here. Whenever we've stayed in the 3BR, we've gotten a lock-off in building 91 or 92. I will probably be booking a dedicated 3BR for our next trip with the grandkids. Does anyone know which buildings have the dedicated 3BR villas? I asked at the front desk but no one knew. I thought I saw that info in this forum a few years back but haven't been able to locate the thread.

Also, does the 3BR configuration shown on the MVC website for Grande Vista depict the dedicated 3BRs?

(BTW, I got the preferred check-in treatment today. It's a nice benefit if there's a line at the check-in desk. Otherwise, it's not much different. How does one qualify for preferred check-in?)

i recently posted about preferred. Hope it warms up for you. When we were there in January it was the coldest weather in years. The iguanas were falling. We were in a dedicated 2 BR in 85. If you have a chance head to Blue Springs State Park to see the manatees- they head to the warm waters there when it’s cold.

Only buildings 77, 78, 85 and 86 have true dedicated 2BR and 3BR units. The resort refers to these units as "apartment style". The 3BR floor plan on the website is a lock off unit. You see when you go through the first door, it goes in to a kind of vestibule, then you have access to either side of the lock off unit through that vestibule. I believe the dedicated 3BR unit has two twin beds in the second and third bedroom (could be queen in the second) where the lock off has two twins in the third with a king in the second (lockoff side).

The 3BRs I've stayed in bldgs. 91 and 92 had 2 queen (or full?) beds in the 3rd bedroom (the 2nd bedroom was a typical lockoff). I don't remember it looking like the floorplan shown on the MVC website, but maybe... It looks like from that floorplan, that the lockoff has access to the 3rd bedroom. Is that correct? I wish I could see the floorplan for the dedicated 3 BR. If anyone has photos, can you post? I'm beginning to think I may be better off with a lockoff… but only if the lockoff has access to the 3rd bedroom.

Thanks for the replies.

We just came back from a week in 85, fifth floor, two bedroom. Nice view, very lumpy mattress in the master. Weather was up and down. Orlando was very crowded.

I think the difference may be with where the 3BR units are located? Have you always been in an end unit? Those look different than the floorplan on the website. I think some buildings have 3BR units in the middle and they look more like the floorplan provided.

Yes, we've always had an end unit. The floorplan shows two sets of double-locking doors into the 3rd bedroom, which seems odd. Does anyone know if that's that how it is? It looks like there are 2 possible ways to separate the unit:
1) the master BR + kitchen/dining + bedroom as one 2BR unit, and the lock-off as a separate unit ,
or
2) master BR + kitchen/dining as one 1 BR bedroom unit, and the lock-off + bedroom as a separate unit

I don't think option 2 is possible, but the floorplan showing the 2 sets of double-locking doors in the 3rd bedroom confuses me.

Does the "apartment style" 3BR units have 2 balconies? That's kind of important to me.

I’m not sure if this will help, but have a look on Marriott.com at the villas & rooms for grande vista.
You’ll see there are 2 options for 3 br units.
Both have 2 balconies.
The difference they list under room amenities is one type has 2 bedrooms with a king and one bedroom with 2 doubles.
The other has one king room, one with 2 queen, one with 2 double.
I spent a bunch of time trying to figure out the layout when I stayed in a dedicated double recently.

Here is the floorplan from the website. The exterior doors highlighted in yellow don't actually go in to the unit. Those look like outside storage closet or maintenance doors. One probably has a water heater and the other the AC unit. I don't know why the door in red is showing like it is a lockout door.

When I look on the floor plans in the underlying condo docs, that double locking door isn't there.

I thought I'd give an update to this post regarding apartment style 3BRs at Grande Vista. Last year I booked one for this month when my son's family was going to be staying with us (our grandkids are young) but because of COVID they decided not to come this year, so we invited other family members (all adults) to join us. I tried to change to a lockoff last year but there weren't any available at that time.

I finally managed to get thru to someone from "Preferred Checkin" yesterday and she read to me what our accommodations were:
1 King bed in the master bedroom
2 Queen beds in the 2nd bedroom
2 Full (i.e. 'double') beds in the 3rd bedroom

I asked if there were any 3BR lockoffs available that I could switch to and she said yes, so she switched us. [fingers crossed] (My fear is that she switched us to a 2BR lockoff.)
