Hi, I have a two beroom villa lockout wihh a king and king in second bedroom booked. My kids no longer want to share a bed so I want to ask to change this to a K and two queens. Willl reservations accomodate. I want to be very lose to copa loca so wondering if this is an option. I cant find building floor plans anywhere. ANy info would be helpful. Thanks :)

If it is a home resort reservation, you mauy be able to call them and have your reservation changed to a Full Villa vs. the Full Villa Lock Off that you may have now. When making a home resort reservation, be sure to select the Full Villa to have one that is a dedicated 2BR unit. These units are only in buildings 77, 78, 85 and 86. So they are close to Copa Loca.

If your staying on an II exchange, you can certainly request a dedicated 2BR unit, but it is very likely that you will get whatever unit type you've confirmed into via II. You can verify the unit type from this list.

I'm friends with an owner and he booked it for us and he is preferred. He has transfered the reservation to me already but I noticed when they sent the confirmation that it said:
2 Bedroom Villa, Bedroom 1: 1 King, Bedroom 2: 1 King, Sofa beds: 2, Balcony.

I have always had the one with a king and two queens in the other room so I was surprised when I saw this. I'm surprised that the villas around the main pool area are all set up like this with the two king beds as most people would have kids who want their own bed.

Do you think If I call the hotel they can change it to a a villa with king and two queens/doubles? Thanks for the help.

The owner (your friend) will need to see if they can modify the reservation. You are probably going to be unsuccessful in making a change to it yourself. It will still depend on how they made the booking. Do you know if they reserved this through Interval International or actually as a home resort reservation at Grande Vista?

You can certainly call and make a villa request, but they seem to be more stringent keeping guests in the villa type booked. I did have them switch out a unit type from a 2BR lock off to what they call "appartment style", which is what you want, one time many years ago.

Ok I will talk to him today about it. I don't want to be a pain in the butt as he has already helped us getting this reservation. I might try and call the hotel too and see if they can help before I bother the owner.

My girls are teens so they will complain about the bed situation as they are used to having their own when we travel MVC. I want it to be a smooth vacation not hearing two girls bicker lol :)

I think this means that the second bedroom has a king bed plus a sofa bed. So, the kids won't have to share a bed, but one of them gets the "bad" bed. So maybe not as bad as you are thinking?
Yeah the second part of the room has a king and a pullout but their will be complaining from my kids as they typically have their own bed. I get it.. but we are still going on vacation! Thanks for the help

Listen to Dioxide’s advice and see if the owner can switch it for you, especially if it is their home booking.
Timeshares are not hotels- owners get what they book.
If you call the resort the best they will tell you is they will note your request and ’try’- potentially putting you in the master potion of a 3br lockoff giving you 2 double beds in the guest instead of the 2br lockoff you have now with the king and sofa bed.

This situation is especially complicated at grande vista because the one 2br with 2 queens in the 2nd bedroom is a dedicated 2 bedroom (they call them apartment style) and those units are in the west village only- they will not change you into or out of that unit.

I’ll add that the newer MVC sofa beds are very comfortable- I have slept on several of them.
The lock off will be a nice room large room with its own entry and balcony and small kitchenette area with mini fridge.
You can see the room on Marriott.
Choose Accomidations from the 3 line menu at the top of the resort page.
Give it a look before you change it- it’s a much niceer space.

I think that's we were last year (west village) it was on the copa loca pool side a few buildings down just as you pulled into the place. We had a king and two queens as we normally do at MVC which is why I found it odd to get this new setup. It is his home resort so I will ask to see if he can make the room type change.

I definately don't want to be put into a smaller room with two double beds.. I will keep what we have and the kids deal with it if he cant switch us to the west village.

Thanks for the help!

The room you are booked in is very common in timeshare- actually far more common than a 2-bedroom with 2 queens in the second bedroom. Its a 2-bedroom lockoff, so the 2nd bedroom can be locked off into a separate studio unit- so it has a king bed and a pullout sofa.

Grande Vista is a resort that also has dedicated 2-bedroom units with 2 queens in the 2nd bedroom instead of the 1 king and the sofa bed, but they are unlikely to be able to just switch you to one of these units unless you are going at a low occupancy time then maybe- but most often you will always be placed in the specific unit type that was booked. That's why you would need to contact the owner to see how they booked and if there is a possibility they could switch it for you.

I actually prefer the sofa bed, which is a memory foam mattress because the regular bed mattresses are too soft for me.

I know you're unfamiliar with timeshares but as noted, this is common. And for others who may read this, some 2BR sleep 6, some 8 in 2 BR. Sleep 6 may only have one bed or twin beds plus the pullout in the LR. Other issues I've seen would be to assume a WD in the room, that there is a beach even if near the water, that there is a full kitchen (sometimes there isnt'). Also, some places have extra charges whether it be for parking or even AC for some locations though I'm not familiar with any Marriott related related resorts that charge extra for AC. The point is one needs to investigate if not very familiar with the resort and location.

I didn’t mean to imply the that 2nd bedroom of the 3br lockoff with the 2 double beds is smaller than the 2nd bedroom of the dedicated 2 br with the 2 queens- although I might guess that it is since it has the smaller beds- just that is is smaller than the lock off with the king and sofa bed- that is bigger since is can be a stand alone unit. I believe the over all size of the complete unit is the same for all 3.

If your friend (the owner) calls, they will likely switch it for him IF they have the other "apartment style" you prefer, available. If not, then you are out of luck.
