It is running; I believe there is a separate charge to use it unless you have some ownership privileges to that. There is a stop near the highway on the eastern side where the entrance to Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta is; my hope is that there is a nearby bus stop. That would save me the beach walk, which isn't too bad, but wouldn't have as great a variety of bus routes to take; just the Diretto to PV and the Riu that winds its way up to Flamingos then goes to PV.

So, the new gondola is running? Can anyone take it? Do you think it would be close enough to the highway for one to get off the resort property? What I noticed the past couple of times at NV is that the road off is long and winding. My guess is the beach is still the shortest route off resort.

We are here now, staying in a 3 bed spa unit, tower 4. We attempted to ride the gondola and were denied, being told we had to have a "park pass". We didn't inquire too much into it after that. We have a view of the golf course and have been watching the gondolas daily, they're virtually empty.

Side note...we rented from a platinum owner this visit and were told we would have platinum privileges as their guest. We were denied access to both the Sky Garden pool and tower 5 rooftop pool and told ONLY people staying there could use them. Kind of a bummer. I was under the assumption that staying at the Grand Luxxe Residence you would have entry into those, apparently not.

There's a lot of great information here. But, most of what I've read centers on the rooms. There's more to the Vidanta experience than the rooms, although they are excellent. You will probably not find a resort in Hawaii with grounds like what you'll find in Nuevo Vallarta or Riviera Maya. NV literally sprawls and is meticulously maintained. Lots of boarded walkways with plenty to see. Lovely pools, gardens, and beaches. And, for the most part, the service you will receive from the staff is second to none.

We're looking forward to our November trip, staying in a 2BR villa through an Interval exchange code MVILLA. From what I've gathered, these villas offer a bit more space than the MSUITE, featuring an additional closed lounge area with a sofa bed, which should be perfect for a kid. Moreover, they're located at the end of buildings 1 and 2, ensuring better views.
Not sure though whether they'll honor the specific unit type. Fingers crossed that everything works out as planned!

If you visit the website, you can view the floor plan of a Grand Luxxe 2 bedroom master villa - much larger than a master suite. We stayed in Building 4 in April 2023 in a Grand Luxxe 2 bedroom villa. The view is not guaranteed and the units are not limited to corner locations. Unless things have changed, these size villas are located in Building 1, 2 3,4, and 5.

We just checked out last week from Grande Luxxe Nuevo Vallarta. We stayed in a 2BR Loft in T3 on a ThirdHome exchange. They gave us privileges to all the pools except the residence pool and the estates pool.

I will say that restaurant and food costs have increased a lot in Mexico. I suspect it is a combination of inflation and the weakening dollar. One person told us they prefer tips in pesos because they think it is worth more.

After Grande Luxxe, we came up to Punta Mita using Bonvoy points. The costs up here are through the roof. Last night, we had dinner at Mina, a small casual Mexican restaurant in the town of Punta de Mita. It was over $200 for 4 of us. I could not believe it.

Now I am re-thinking whether to visit Cancun next summer. We will probably go but, for sure, we will not stay in any hotels. A kitchen and nearby grocery store will be essential.

The article cites many reasons why the Mexican peso has appreciated 20% since last fall. For remittances, it cites the falling dollar and rising inflation as reasons why remittances are worth less. This would also explain why we are finding Mexico to be so expensive for us. It seems like it is exceeding Hawaii costs for us.
