Grand Waikikian by Hilton Grand Vacations Club = I have booked a two bedroom for my wife and another couple.... we will be flying in on Nov. 4th (a Saturday) next year and have it for a week.... we are going onto Kauai for for another four days.... the question I have is... would it make more sense to move onto Kauai on the Friday and spend 6 days at Oahu and 5 days at Kauai??? we will miss the fire works at the Grand Waikikian that Friday evening if we leave, but does it make more sense to move on a day early and spend more time in Kauai??? thanks for everyones input.... Dave :whoopie:

Are you sure that November 4th Saturday check-in date is correct?

The only Saturday in 2016 that falls on "a 4th", is in June.

November 4th is a Friday in 2016, and beyond the 12 month home-week booking window ... so, I'm confused

But, as to your question ... it's really depends on whether you prefer the hectic pace of Waikiki, or the solitude of Kauai ;)

I assume that was booked via RCI, not HGVC.

Have no idea if the OP has been to Hawaii before or not, or whether the Kauai stay is hotel or TS (and whether the other couple is joining for that portion).

Agree that it is personal preference, but given that the OP has a lengthy trip to HI, an early flight on day 7 might make more sense than leaving a day early (and could also depend on time of day on the outbound from Kauai).

The fireworks lasts 5 minutes. If that's the reason you're staying, leave early.

Yeh, sorry I meant Sat. Nov. 5th not the 4th.... Yes it's an RCI exchange and hoping to get a 4 or 5 day exchange into Kauai..... I know we want to see Pearl Harbor, http://www.chiefsluau.com/, and the Polynesian Center in Oahu plus take in as many of the sites as possible..... I also know we will not get there till later so we will have lost out on the first day.... Just trying to decide what makes the most sense..... Dave:doh: The other couple will be with us for the whole trip..... And the outbound flight from Kauai is late eve.... So we will have most of the last day to explore....

I can tell you the number one reason to fly on Saturday over Friday is that the terminal for Hawaiian or any other interisland flight on Friday is a zoo compared to Saturday. Friday is the busiest day of the week and Saturday is one of the slowest. If you decide to fly on Friday, make sure your flight is before noon. Lots of locals work half a day on Friday, go straight to the airport and it gets busy real fast after that. It stays busy until 8 p.m. It is crazy crowded. Been there and done it 100 times because I used to work there.
