The remodeled grand seas

Has anyone been to the seas lately. I am just wondering how the remodel is going and are they doing anything to the rooms.

I actually booked a two bedroom for next summer at a pretty good price .

We stayed there a couple years ago and it was nice. Probably lucked out from what the reviews were at that time.

The reviews are still not good. I'm staying down the street from them and will see if I can stop by there sometime this week to check it out. The outside is now very blue with white trim... too much blue for me. I miss how it used to look. Will report back if I get there.

Grand Seas Resort Late October 2015

Today I stopped by this resort to see what's up. I walked through the lobby and rode in both elevators. Then I walked to the pool deck and spoke with some women enjoying the afternoon there.

The outside is now aqua blue with white trim. The lower (on the restaurant, offices, lobby and gym) roofs visible from the upper walkways are roofed with what looks like a blinding white rubber skin. That's an improvement over the unsightly gravel that was the old roofing. The top roof was also replaced even though the old roof was less than 10 years old. Someone told me the old roof wasn't installed correctly and there were leaks up there. I don't know if the co-owners will see their fees go up to pay for all that is planned.

The pool deck looks about the same, except the tiki hut was beautifully dressup up on what is visible. Along with Gilligan's restaurant, it's closed though, and I was told it's because they don't have a liquor license anymore.
I didn't go see the kids playground, but here's the kiddie pool and you can see the slide is out of commission. The putt putt golf is still the same.

I spoke with a few people staying there and was told that their rooms were old and not updated. I couldn't find out if any rooms had in fact been even refreshed. There is a display in the lobby showing what the rooms will look like some day. How the rooms will be a year from now is anyone's guess.

It's obvious what the priorities are - make the outside and maybe a model room beautiful and sell, sell, sell.

The elevators are slow, but they still work.

No duh! The wading pool was open, but do you want to explain to your little one why no sliding?

Hot tubs were reported to be hot and bubbly

The pools are always great here, but this looks darker than I remember it.

I could look up into many rooms from the deck and see that they are full of the same stuff. The outside looks clean and well kept though.

Well, if you want steam, you will have to ask for it. I wonder how many people would bother to ask?

Thanks

You are just to awesome
We stayed there a couple years ago and the room was ok. It was humid and the tile floors seemed wet because of it.
I was just wondering how things were looking
Thanks.

Has this resort been taken over by Exploria resorts?

Yes. Is that a good thing?

They seem to be on the road to improve this resort. So far the outside looks great. The inside still has a lot of rot.

Exploria management is as bad as Grand Seas independent was. I needed to speak with a Ms. Wadsworth at Exploria home office about a deed registration problem. She could not be reached directly, but a receptionist had to email a message to her to call me back. She never called me back and I left three messages on three different days and had a legal advocate try to contact her twice. Grand Seas was the same. They would not even reply to a certified letter.

Grand Seas owners are waiting to see how much their fees will go up. Many of those who had Club Navigo converted weeks, I've been told that they have lost their week. I'm not sure what happened as mine got converted from Club Navigo to DRI.

For me, it's irrelevant as I don't own a week there anymore.

Forgot to mention that the old La Playa Resort is the North neighbor of Grand Seas and right next to that is a brand new completely refurbished Hilton Garden Inn. So the neighborhood is rising.
