Hello All,

I just secured a 3BR in the summer at the Grand Residences in Lake Tahoe. According to my confirmation, it is a 3BR Bi-level Loft with 4 bathrooms at 2,090 square feet.

I have been searching all over the place for a floor plan and pictures with no luck. Has anyone stayed in one of these. Looking forward to this family trip!

Thanks in advance!

They don't even have 3BR units listed on Marriott.com. On marriottvacationclub.com, there is no floor plan link for this property like there is for most others.

Thanks for the replies. I have looked at all those websites as well and no luck.

The front desk also mentioned they recently renovated all the units so that are very nice so I am curious on how they look.

On a related matter, I may need more rooms for this trip and am wondering if Timber Lodge is a viable option since it is easier to get units there than Grand Residence. Is there a pathway of some sort that links the two? I read they are side by side but am curious is to how close they are. Is it as convenient as Aruba Ocean Club and Surf Club is to each other?

Grand Residence Club (GRC) and Timberlodge are on alternate sides of the Heavenly gondola. Many of the Timberlodge activities in fact are at the GRC. A little bit of a pain in the winter since there's no sheltered or internal pathway from one to the other. But it's going to super easy to go from one to the other in the summer. They're about 50 feet apart (?)

We exchanged into Grand Residence a few years ago. The 3 BR unit was fantastic with a small complaint. The main 'living room' area is really very small and in no way would seat the number of guests who are allowed to sleep there.

I have stayed at both several times. The GR is nice as the pool is a bit quieter, lobby less busy and valet much faster to bring your car to you. As stated above they are extremely close together. They could easily be considered one resort as many resorts you can stay at have buildings much further apart. Both are nice. Tahoe in the summer is THE BEST! Have fun!

I have a 3-bedroom/4-bath loft at the GRCLT. What would you like to know?

There are not many of this until style and I have never been able to find a floor plan. The downstairs is pretty much identical to the 2-bedroom units.

The upstairs has a bedroom with a single queen bed and a loft living room with a sofa bed. There is a single bathroom upstairs that connects to the hallway next to the stairs and the upstairs bedroom.

I love my 3-bedroom and wish I could stay there more often. The only downside is the balcony is off the master bedroom and quite small. I own a 1-bedroom also and that balcony is quite large.

Thanks, if you gave up an August week, I may be staying in your unit :hi:

Thanks for offering your help! Here are my questions-

- The front desk mentioned it sleeps 12-14 so I'm trying to figure out the bedding configuration. Can you let me know?

- Where is the 4th bathroom located (1st or 2nd floor?)

- I am booked for a Wednesday to Wednesday stay which I find out because I thought they were all Fri to Fri but that was the only availability they had.

- Do you have any pictures of the unit you would be willing to share?

Thanks in advance,

Shari

A friend runs that site. There are some pictures for the 3-bedroom/4-bath unit.

12-14 people would be a stretch. I'd say it sleeps 10 comfortably, but you could stretch it to 12 if you use both upstairs and downstairs sofa beds.

The master bedroom as a king sized bed and a bathroom
The downstairs 2nd bedroom has 2 queen beds and a bathroom
The upstairs bedroom has 1 queen bed and a bathroom
The upstairs/loft living room has a queen sofa bed
The downstairs living room has a queen sofa bed
The 4th bathroom is downstairs off the kitchen/living room area
On either side of the fireplace are small day beds that each sleep a small child.

Wednesday to Wednesday is indeed peculiar since that spans 2 owner's weeks. I put my place in a 3rd party rental pool for my August week, so it is definitely not my unit (5235.)

They are basically two wings of the same resort. The buildings are less than 200ft apart. Here's the perspective (The red line is the gondola.):

One more thing ... you may want to try to book Timber Lodge if you have a choice.

Grand Residence charges exchangers for parking -- not sure if you got your exchange through II or somewhere else, but I think the parking charge is for ANY exchanger. And if you are bringing multiple families (which it sounds like you are), parking can add up.

Timber Lodge does not charge parking for exchangers. So you could park I believe up to two cars there without a parking fee. You can also gamble parking at the casino for free and leaving it there -- YMMV.

Excellent tip, many thanks! Our preference is actually Timber Lodge (less points) and easier for me to get additional units but that was the only 3BR available all summer before nieces on the West coast go back to school.

We will definitely need more units so I'll get those in Timber Lodge and park there for free :)

Many thanks, are the pics reflective of the recent refurbishments mentioned on the site?

They told me there's only two of these 3BR Loft units. One has a view of the gondola, the other a pool view. Which one is yours?

The pictures were taken this past summer *after* the recent renovation.

I am not sure total how many 3-bedroom/4-baths there are. I'm guessing there are either 4 or 6. Mine is 5235 and it has a pool view. Across the hall from me is 5234 which has a gondola view. I know of 3 other 3-bedroom units there.

Seaport, did you secure the reservation using Destination Club points or through an Interval exchange? If the latter, what did you trade?

I secured using Destination Club points. I highly doubt anyone would give that 3prime season BR up for exchange.

Be prepared, you may have to move midway through your stay at Grand Residence Tahoe. In your shoes I would call the resort GM to find that out in advance because another TUGger wasn't told until she checked in (see this thread.)

Timber Lodge isn't fixed Weeks so switching units midway is much less likely to happen there.

I talked to the site GM about that particular thread. He says while it does happen, it is exceedingly rare. The times that it does happen are during the busiest weeks (Christmas/New Years, Presidents Day, and the like.)

Regardless of how rare it happens it's a possibility that I'd want to know about in advance. The resort/MVW management didn't notify any of the folks who were affected during that OP's same week (can't remember, were there 6?) so there's no reason to expect that they'll notify anybody else.
