Has anyone had experience selling a Grand Ocean Week back to Marriott Vacation Club? I have Gold Season Ocean Front weeks at Grand Ocean. I am in conversations now to sell my weeks back to Marriott. This is not a deed-back (Get out for $0) This is a sell-back because MGO Gold OF is a high demand season that includes Easter, Heritage Golf Tournament, and Memorial Day.

I know about redweek.com and agents. I know about secondary market sales. My question is very specific: Did you sell a week back to Marriott?
What resort, season and how much did you get? Was it a buy-back or a contingent listing waiting for a buyer? They use some Legacy Weeks to sell bundles with points.

Thanks for sharing

I sold my 2 bdrm, OF summer season at Ocean Pointe via Marriott last fall. They sold it for $11,400, of which I received $5,700, It took over a year for them to locate a buyer.

If you call or email Customer Service they will tell you what they will sell it for through a broker and how much you will get. That is if they are offering to sell Grande Ocean trough brokers.

Oops. I forgot to answer your all of your question. The example I have is that last summer Marriott offered to sell my fixed summer garden view week at Monarch using a broker for $8,400 and I would get $4,200. I sold it almost immediately after listing it for $9,000. I had several otger offers that were close to or above what I would have netted from Marriott. Fixed weeks during high demand time at Monarch are difficult to find so this example of selling on my own may be an exception.

What are they offering you? What someone was offered 3 years ago or even 9 months ago is irrelevant. Offers change all the time. Whether or not they will actually offer a buy back or even a brokered resale is not guaranteed. Since you know the secondary market you know if you think you can do better than what they are offering.

Marriott sold my silver season garden view Grande Ocean unit for a little over $7,000 last year. Marriott's fee was 40% of the sales price.

It took several iterations though. I would receive an email from Marriott stating they have a buyer and they and waiting to receive the signed sales contract back from the buyer only to email be latter stating the buyer had backed out. This happened 5 times before a buyer finally followed through.
