So I decided on the GMNV but now I see weeks available at GMRM..

We are traveling from SFO is it worth the extra time to fly and drive to the Grand Mayan Rivera Maya?

Any advise is accepted gratefully! :cheer:

We loved NV so much that we are going back from the East Coast next Thanksgiving. If you have kids, NV all the way. No kids, it's a toss up. I loved them both, but the wave pool and lazy river at Nuevo was wonderful.

From SFO, I would go NV for the above reasons and no building in NV is far from the pools and beach.
In RM, buildings 8-13 are far from the pool and beach..far to walk unless you get buildings 1-7.

Plus you can't swim the beach in RM -- it's all coral. The pools are great, but the resort is sprawling.

Just returned from the Grand Mayan Riviera Maya. It's a beautiful resort, the staff are friendly and helpful, the grounds and buildings are immaculate, and the food is wonderful.

We enjoy walking, and traveled the grounds of the resort every day, walked to the highway and back several times to catch the Collectivo to Playa and Cancun, and to just enjoy the sights.

We were in Building 1, which was quite convenient. I can appreciate that people with mobility issues or small children would have a very difficult time staying in the buildings that are further away - the "Jungle" buildings (8+).

The biggest thing that will keep us from returning is the ocean/beach. The reason we go to Mexico is for the sights/sounds and overall atmosphere of the ocean and beach. This property has a very poor layout for us - it's very long and narrow, and is as if you aren't at the beach at all - there is minimal access, no view from any of the buildings, and the beach itself is very small and not of typical Mayan Riviera quality. If you are a pool person, you will love it. If you are a beach person, not so much.
