So I have the chance to go to either for our 10 year anniversary. We are in our low 30's and my husband and I just want to spend some time near a beach with a good book under an umbrella or tent. We want to do some site seeing and would like to do some fun activities or learn some about the history. We also love good food and consider part of vacation is eating. :D

Which place do you think would best match us?

O, we will going in january if that makes a decision easier.

I have not been to the Riviera Maya, but Grand Mayan Nuevo is awesome. Beautiful weather, luxurious lobbies, bars, and restaurants. Plenty of shade to relax under.

My wife and I have been to both, and prefer NV by far!

Been to the GM-NV. Beach itself is nice enough, but the water is not terribly attractive at the beach....kind of that sandy Pacific water like in California.
Pool is GREAT!
Lots of fabulous restaurants within a taxi ride from the resort.

But we wouldn't go back to NV/PV again.....there wasn't a lot of sightseeing and we realized we are NOT resort people. We ended up at loose ends, looking for things to do. If I ever went to Mexico again it would be to the Riviera Maya so that we could snorkel and see the ruins.

Riviera Maya is our favorite

We have been to NV one year ago and just returned from out sixth trip to Riviera Maya GM. Riviera Maya is always our favorite. We like that the resort is spread out so that we can always find privacy and quiet places without many people around. We love the beautiful Caribbean and snorkeling. However, alot of other owners we have talked to like NV the best. It just depends on what you are looking for.
