Any owners of Grand Mayan or Mayan Palace has received a check from Wyndham when you are not using your week and handed it over to Groupo Mayan to "market" it?? This is their version of the 'rental' program. When you are not using your week, instad of leaving it empty, owners can turn it over to the developer (parent company of Mayan Palace) and in return you get a check of $700 for the Studio unit and $1000 for the 1-bedroom unit. I'm totally skeptical when heard about this, so I just want to check with actual owners first before calling it a scam.

Also, is their "no maintance fee until you booked your vacation" true??

Thanks!!!

If your contract says that you do not pay unless you go, that is true. We own several weeks with Mayan Palace and Grand Mayan and only pay maintenance fees on 5 of our 6 weeks when we make a reservation. We just use the week that we must pay for each year.

I do not know about the Wyndham rental deal, we have not been offered that, but would not do it as generally, those do not work out so well. We prefer the no pay unless you go.

I have the clause that requires payment of maintenance fees only when used. On the issue of resale, I've had no luck. Don't count on it at all.
