Just went to presentation and was told you can only come to the Grand Luxxe via exchange once every 5 yrs. Does anyone know if you can book 1 week with II, and another with RCI, and another with SFX and bypass the 1 in 5 rule? Is this really strictly enforced, the salesperson told me he has seen people with bookings who get turned away at check in! I am curious as I booked 2 weeks in Nov through II and was not told of this rule, and don't want any problems at checkin!! Was the salesperson lying as they often do....

You might get to book a week using II one year and SFX another. Grand Luxxe does not exchange with RCI.

It will also depend on what Vida and the exchange companies have agreed to. I know that with RCI, several of the places that we own have a 1-in-4 or 5 rule. If I try to make a reservation online or by calling, I am told about the rule. Some of these do allow owners to book back in using an exchange more than 1 time in the time frame and others do not. SFX/Vida will not let me deposit a Mayan Palace or Grand Mayan and exchange into ANY Vida property -Sea Garden, Mayan Palace, Grand Mayan,, Grand Bliss, or Grand Luxxe.

The salesperson seemed to make a distinction b/n Grand Luxxe being a Residence Club, and Residence clubs being restricted to all exchangers to once every 5 years?

If your two weeks are consecutive, you will probably be OK. It often says that in the fine print when you make reservations. Check your II reservation confirmations.

They are both consecutive, however I may have 2 different groups of friends each stay 1 week as guests as i have a week reserved in the caymans at the same time we may choose to go to instead...

I never heard II having a one in five rule on any resort, is it a Mayan Group restriction or an exchange company restriction? I already did 2 exchanges in one year into grand luxxe with II and had no problems. I thought that rule was an RCI thing.

We also just had the presentation. The salesperson told us about the rule and said that II should have told us. We were never informed by II. My only thoughts on this issue is that they told us so many lies at the presentation this could be just one more. I gave a full report on our horrific presentation experience in another thread.

total lie.
1 in 5 rule is only exist in RCI.
II has no such rule at all.
And Grand Luxx exchanges only through II.
In RCI, if you booked a second reservation within 4 years (1 in 4) or 5 years (1 in 5), RCI doesn't let you go through it or they call you and cancel the reservation. You should get cancellation letter from RCI.
