I just received an email from vidanta that the new Greg Norman course is open. We have the 16 rounds of free golf, but when I tried to book I was told it only pertains to the old course and does not include any future courses. I stated that it does not say anything about this in my contract. Anyone else have this problem yet? I'd like to get a group of owners together and fight this. We're going to NV in January so I'll check it out.

My resort is in acopolco. I have a 50% discount contract. Mine has a note: "the use of the above mentioned benifit shall be in accordance with the internal policy of the golf course.". One policy, in my case may mean they can limit what golf course, I no sure.

Yes, I have been told about this during all my upgrade presentations. While I agree with you in principle, I believe the wording in the contract gives them the right to do it - depends on how they officially designate the course names. They have tried to get me to switch from the free rounds to the discounted rounds that are good everywhere.

My plan is to plan on playing just the Nicklaus courses. When there, I will see what they are actually charging me to play the other courses, then decide. I look forward to what you find out when there.

On a personal note, I don't like heights in an open vehicle - especially if the driver has a beer in hand.. That bridge over the river to get to the Norman course looks a bit scary to me.

We do not have the free golf, but highly discounted golf. The price is lower at the Nicklaus course than the Norman course. We do not play golf, so it is not a big deal for us. Sometime or another when our sons go with us they will use the discount as they love to play golf.

I am at the resort now. I have been told the golf included in my contract is only for the Nicklaus course.

They tell me that the Norman course will relieve the pressure on the Nicklaus course making T-times easier to get for the Nicklaus course. I hope so.

The new course should be open very soon. I got a good look at the suspension bridge and it is much longer than I expected. It looks safe to me. The caddies call it the mini Golden Gate Bridge.

Even though I have golf at the Nicklaus course, I will try the new course if I don't have to pay full price for it.

Also, the caddie fees have been increased. There are now junior caddies and senior caddies with the senior caddies costing more for 18 holes than the Junior caddies who are apparently apprentices. I will post more when I have additional information.

For a Senior Caddy the charge is $57 US for a foursome. For a Junior Caddy it is $44 US per foursome. You should also give your caddy a tip on top of the caddy charge.

Update on the new Norman course. I have been told that a second suspension bridge will be built. The first bridge already built will bring traffic to the course and the other will be for traffic returning. I was told they considered a bridge with 2 lanes but ultimately decided on two 1 lane bridges.

The cost to play the new course unless your contract includes a reduced rate is around $250.

The cost to play the Nicklaus Course is $198.

More news later if I get any.

Thanks John, I was told we get a 20% discount on the Norman course. About $200. This is my contract "members and guests shall be entitled to use of the golf course at any Grupo Mayan golf course". I am going there in January and I plan on talking to a lawyer there. I think the Norman course should be included in the free rounds ( not free, I paid a lot for them!) if anyone is interested in this please let me know. I hope to talk to other members while I'm there too.

The last time we were there, we were told that we could use any of the golf courses as a part of our membership. Any of the 4 planned at that time.
FWIW.
