For those who have stayed at the Chateau, how does it compare to being in a hotel in Vegas? Part of the excitement of Vegas is the atmosphere, and I wonder if you lose some of that being in a timeshare. Are there cabs readily available as in front of the hotels? Also in other posts they mention that the MarketPlace is open. Is it sufficient to get the items you need or is there somewhere nearby to pick up what you need? We are thinking of renting a car for three days. Are car rentals able to be done on site or do you need to take a cab to the airport car rental locations? Your answers are appreciated.

Peace vs Amenities

When you say hotel I think of a hotel with a casino. So the main difference is, do you want to be able to take an elevator downstairs and hit the slots or tables at 3 in the morning? Or have a late meal and take the elevator up to your room? If so, a hotel casino is the way to go. If you stay at the GC you'll have to cross the street first.

There is a Budget Rental car office in the Travelodge next to the GC.

Although cabs are available at the entrance, when I was there they had to be hailed by staff. That could take a few minutes or more.

Only staff parks the cars, so if you park, you have to wait a minute for that, plus tip.

The Market Place has some of the bare necesities, but a bit pricey. There is a Walgreens around a 100-50 yards away to the south on Las Vegas Blvd. If you have a car, it's better to go to the grocery store and stock up.

Car rentals are available at the airport and up and down the strip. There is also one to the left of the registration desk at the Aladdin (across the street).

If it is important to have major poolage, casino and restaurants, a timeshare is not good for you. The pool at the GC, although in a great location (38 floors up) is small and they won't be getting another pool until the 2-3 tower is completed.

You will be right across the street from the Aladdin and the surrounding mall, so you are just a few minutes from casino and many resaurants.
