Hello, I own in Vegas, always used II to exchange legacy weeks, no points, did lock off every year, and managed some nice trades in August, to ocean pointe, beach club 1 in Ft Myers, and royal resorts in cancun, even traded the studio for a 2 bedrooms there, as well into cypress harbour, would you share your trades? Just curious to see what is possible out there, thank you!!!

We own a MGC 3 bedroom unit. We have this unit enrolled in the DC but probably won't be exchaning for points in the near future. I just can't get the value out of points that I've been able to get our of weeks. Even if I was trading for the same size units every time, I can get more days vacation out of weeks than I can out of points. We're in a position where the cost of the flexiblity is to high for us to utlize points at this time. We joined points to lock in the option and to save on the ala carte pricing for lock-off fee's and exchange fee's. Since we're multiple week owners it made sense for us to join from a financial standpoint but not from a usage standpoint.

2009. I traded the one bedroom portion of a two bedroom for a week at the Monarch on HHI over Labor Day. With the lock off room I traded back into MGC for a one bedroom at the end of March.

Not sure what this has to do with OP's question about Grand Chateau in Las Vegas.

Have not signed up for point system. Used old or legacy system - traded using II instant exchange to get larger units for studio. Then took advantage of XYZ - learned about that through TUG.

MGC trade

I have only owned for one year at GC, so I am trading a two bedroom for a one bedroom at Ocean Pointe for March 10, 2012. We said we would take a one bedroom, we were happy to be there in March. Last year we traded a two bedroom Marriott silver season for a two bedroom at OP at end of January.
Has anyone found that with the new Marriott system, the GC is not getting as much as it once did in trade. They called to say I could have a studio at OP for my 2 bedroom GC in 2013. I said I would not take a studio for a two bedroom.
I am interested to see if you can trade to Hilton Head Island late June to first week of August for GC.
I am a member of TUG, must learn how to become a member of the discussion groups.
I try and book a desirable week at GC for a trade, do you think that makes a lot of difference?
Thanks, we love TUG!

Getting into HH during the summer is very difficult, esp Grande Ocean, Monarch, Surf Watch and Barony. You might have better luck with the non beach resorts. Also, the longer you wait, the better your chances are, esp during the flexchange period.
If you can wait till a shoulder season, a MGC 1br should be able to pull a
2br.
As for prime weeks in LV i'm not sure what they would be. Maybe super bowl week, new years, or some of the big trade shows. Maybe someone else can help you out with that question.

There are reports that MGC and other platinum for platinum trades no longer get the selection of the best premium weeks. I can't really confirm that because I usually trade for shoulder season weeks. Considering that fact I have not seen any erosion of trading strength for MGC. I have been surprised at the strength of the DC points however. Maybe it makes sense to convert the platinum weeks to points, suffer the skim and then book a platinum reservation. That's probably going to require additional points to book a full premium week but maybe that's the new reality.

It's possible I misunderstood what was being asked. :ignore:

Happens to me all the time. ;) For all I know, I'm the one who misunderstood. Besides, I enjoy reading what others have been able to exchange into using various Marriott timeshares.

One of the advantages of points is being able to get whatever's available so long as you have enough points to reserve what you want. Seasons don't matter with points, only having enough points for the reservation.

It's one of the reasons I enjoy the two other points programs we belong too. My only gripe with Marriott is I can't get like for like value (IMHO at least) due to the "skim". Otherwise I'd be converting my weeks to points every year and reserving with points rather than weeks.

It's either last or first week of the year... Either or are strong demand weeks if I am not wrong, look at the TDI table.

Week 52 and some years week 53 is platinum plus which always covers new year's eve. I checked the TDIndex and the highest demand weeks for LV are weeks 15, 24,39,40 and 52. not sure what goes on there those weeks.

Keep in mind that the TDI tables have changed for 2012. What was once a strong weeks isn't so strong now. What was once a week weak may be one of the stronger weeks to reserve. Going by past table's could get you less trading power for 2012.

We use to always book week 10 or 11, depending on the TDI. They were one of the stronger weeks on the table. While they're still decent weeks there are several stronger weeks for exchange purposes on the updated TDI.

I was looking at the TDI tables on the II site today, so I assume they are the most recent. But I do agree with you that the tables do not always reflect what's happening at that location, esp Vegas.
