I was wondering if GPX has a time limit to how late you can deposit a week? I have a week reserved at Carlsbad Seapointe for mid-April and not sure if the relative that was going to use it will be visiting.

You can deposit 14 days or more before check in date.

They advertise 2 weeks, but I've been called by my resort the day before check in asking if I was going to use my week or if I wanted to deposit it to GPX.

Since I am expecting GPX owners to respond, I have another question. When I have a week on deposit, how can I find the expiration date?

Your deposited week is good for two years from the start of the deposited week...per the GPX FAQs.

"A week deposited becomes an exchange credit with GPX that is good for 2 years from the start date of the deposited week. You can book as soon as your week is deposited, or as far as 2 years after the start date of the week deposited. When booking an exchange, the travel date must start on or before the expiration date of the deposited week. You can use your GPX credit online through your Member Dashboard or by calling a vacation specialist at (866) 325-6295."

Some of the GPX representatives insist that travel has to be completed by two years from the start date. Others say it has to start by two years from the start date. Some of them have allowed me to extend a couple of weeks without charge because I was close and had a previously extended expiring week. So a lot depends on who you are talking to. I have found GPX to be very understanding though, a couple of times when I had to cancel reservations. All in all I have had good luck with them but I find that the availability at resorts I am interested in seems to be decreasing.

You can find out the use year of your deposit by going to your profile. Click Member Dashboard and select View Profile. Then select Weeks Deposited. The use year is listed as well as the status of the deposits. So I can tell that I have deposited 6 weeks total and used them all. If I hadn't used the 2020 week though, knowing it was a week 10, I would be able to use it to select an exchange week through week 10 (or maybe week 9 based on the comment above) of 2022. I would also be able to pay to extend it for one year only. I only have one week so it's pretty easy. If you have multiple weeks that you can deposit with GPX, you may need to call them to find out which is which. There is a unique reference number for each deposit so they should be able to figure out what was deposited.

GPX also charges to upgrade the number of bedrooms, even if the resort only has two bedroom units if you are using a one bedroom deposit you have to pay. This may be typical of other exchange companies, but other than GPX I use RCI TPUs.

I hope this info is useful. It may be more than was asked...

Oh, and I was just on the GPX website looking at other fees and I found this:
Late Deposit Fees:
  • Deposits made 14 days or more from your arrival date: FREE
  • Deposit made day of to 6 days prior to arrival date: $149
  • Deposits made 7 to 13 days prior to arrival date: $99
So, if you are willing to pay $149 you can deposit up to the arrival date. This only seems useful if you were maybe planning on using your week at your resort and had to suddenly change your plans. Or, maybe if you are forgetful or a procrastinator like I am... Still, if you did let things go to the last minute you can salvage something out of it. And I didn't see any limitations on use of a late deposit.
