I rebooked my sons spring break flights

Flying on SW points and I called SW and asked them if I need to cancel and rebook because the flights were much cheaper than when I booked. They said no problem we will just credit you back the difference so I got back about 25k miles. Super easy to change flights too.

I love SW. No need to call to make changes. You can do it all on their website. When you pull up your flight and click "change" you can see if the price of the flight (by leg) has gone up or down. You can then request to make the change online. It's best to do this rather than cancel. If you cancel and rebook if you have paid for Early Bird you lose that money. With a change it just transfers over.

Holy cow, Luanne - I just finally had the opportunity to try this in the manner you describe - works slick! Thanks for that tip!

I've learned it works better to book one-way reservations. It simplifies the change if prices go down, if I remember correctly.

No need to do that. When you pull up your itinerary and click "Change" it will show you the differences for each leg. Then you can just change the leg you want, or both.
