Are you talking about the new feature Google released this year permitting somebody to change his own gmail address if he doesn't like his old address ?

I just checked our Gmail's and didn't notice anything different. Same o same o.

It's optional. Perhaps you have an embarrassing email address and want something different.

I can see why a person might want to change their email which is what I did years ago when I closed a business. For me, I made a new email account. Is there a reason to keep an account you don't like ?

That sounds like a good reason. I've had my personal email address since the early 2000's so I decided to see what's in the folders. Wow, its a time capsule of good times.

Sorry, I can't help. I don't use a gmail account. I try to give Google as little information about myself as I can.

Yes, me too! When I was housebound and bored during my chemo treatments I went though all my old emails. I deleted a bunch but also put dozens into a 'saved' folder. Some of those were emails my late mom sent over the years they wintered in Florida and it was expensive to call me. They were mostly about what mom & dad were doing and as her dementia progressed there were many repetitive bits of info and fewer emails. Mom didnt take her laptop south with her but a neighbour/good friend set up a log in on her laptop for mom to use the first winter they were in the RV resort. The last winter mom & dad were in Florida (mom had to be medevac'd home in the March) the neighbour sent me more emails than mom did and I continued to email her with messages and updates on my dad until she passed away a few years ago.

I have a G-mail and a Hotmail email and havent had any notice about changing either one.
