Exchanged into Little Sweden resort which is a very nice resort. The 2 bedroom, 2 bath deluxe unit in a wooded area is really nice. Spacious 2 level unit with a private attached garage, sunroom, and deck with weber grill. Neat fire place, and Swedish themed décor. The master bathroom was huge with a jet tub and shower, and the guest bathroom was pretty big as well (also with a jet tub and shower).
Did not take advantage of the 9 hole PGA golf course on site, or the large swimming pool, or rec room amenities, or hiking around the resort, but it all looked pretty nice.
We got our own resort binder on check-in which was customized with my name and unit number and map showing arrows to get to my exact unit number.
Door county was great. Went to see several lighthouses: Pottawattamie lighthouse on Rock Island, Cana Island Lighthouse (went up 97 steps to the top), Baileys harbor upper and lower range lighthouses, Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal North Pierhead Light, and Eagle Bluff Lighthouse.
During our visit of the Bailey harbor range lighthouse, which was actually closed that day, we just by chance meet a gentleman who had just arrived there that day with his wife, and was going to live there in the lighthouse and be the docent and care taker for the summer. Neat talking to him.
Went to Peninsula State Park to Eagle Tower, and Eagle Panorama, and the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse, and just drove all around Shore Rd in the park. Very nice park and much of Shore Rd had been recently asphalt resurfaced.
Hiked around Cave Point county park to see the neat caves. Saw kids jumping off one of the cliffs into the water around one of the inlet caves.
On Rock Island, in Rock Island State park, we went to the Pottawattamie lighthouse, and then to the beautiful, massive, stone boat house, both very neat places. The boat house has an impressive great room with craved furniture decorated with scenes from Norse mythology.
On Washington Island went to School House beach which is a beach of all very smooth round white rocks which is very cool to see. People actually lay their towels on these rocks to sunbathe. Also went to Stavkirke church (Church of Staves) which is a neat replica based on drawings of a church built in Borgund, Norway. That was really impressive.
Did some shopping in Egg Harbor, and did a fish boil at the Old Post Office restaurant which was really neat.
So had a great time all around.
