Does anyone have advice for strategies on how to get the best result on an Interval International exchange (deposit first)? Are there any links to historical threads on this topic?
Thanks, all!

Things slip through II searches all the time. They are pretty good catching bulk deposits but if someone matched or exchanged in during a bulk deposit (perhaps before you set yours up) and then later cancels, it may reappear in open inventory before the once or twice a day batch check for current ongoing searches. At least that is the theory. Thanks everyone for the advice on strategies for using II (in this thread and others that I tracked down in TUG). I'm happy to report that I got a great exchange: Four Seasons Aviara Carlsbad 2BR in May 2022 in exchange for my deposit of a Desert Springs Villa 2BR.
I do have a question because I landed the exchange in an unexpected way. I had set up an ongoing exchange request with II for a number of resorts, including Aviara, for a time period that spanned most of 2022. Based on TUG advice, I also checked every morning on II to see if there were any desirable resorts through a manual exchange. To my surprise, I found the Aviara during the time period I requested in the ongoing search. How does that happen? I thought that II offers the exchanges first to people who have made ongoing requests, and only then posts them online for manual requests.
Marriott Aruba properties have a big demand. You may consider renting the unit then use the funds for your vacation. I have a 2 bedroom. The rent covers the maintenance fee and much or all the cost of the alternative hotel room. It’s a free vacation.
How do you rent the timeshare? RedWeek? do it yourself with your own contract? thanks.
