Good news about the development of Puerto Vallarta region

Puerto Vallarta/Riviera Nayarit is one of my favorite regions in Mexico. I love how green and mountainous it is, especially as you go south down the coast. It reminds me a lot of Costa Rica. I am happy to hear the region is doing well and there is a lot of resort development going on.

The area is really growing which is creating many jobs. My dentist is in Bucerias and now has an office in the new building next to the new hospital. He is so busy anymore that we need to make our appointments 8 months out.

We have watched the area grow so much, especially places like Sayulita, that we no longer enjoy going to many places that we frequented in the past.

It also seems like the Riviera Nayit/Puerto Vallarta area does not have too much bad news about crime. It feels very safe. I might be wrong but I have not heard any bad news about this region. I am happy about that.

If you look at google you will find that the area does have the same problems with gang crime as most areas of Mexico have. The gang activity is focused on other gangs and doesn't target tourists. Like most areas of Mexico, crime against tourists is not tolerated by the locals who make their living in the tourism industries.

The problem with the Banderas Bay area is it is getting too populated, imo. Same goes for Cabo and many areas of Mexico. Even so, I really like these destinations.

We love the PV area. This fall we are going to stay at a place between La Cruz and Punta Mita. We did a day trip there last year on Thanksgiving with friends and had a great time. This year we are all going to stay there for a week! It is a very small resort called Rancho Bandaras and is a sister resort to Marival. It had the best beach and clearest water that we have ever seen in the Bay!

We found Bucerias on our first trip to NV using a free Interval Week in March 1991. We asked a taxi driver to take us to a place his family liked that was on the beach and he took us to Bucerias. We then found it when we went again a few years later and rented a car. We were determined to find the area. Our family always looks forward to a Bucerias day sitting in the shade with our feet in the sand at one of the restaurants!

It is growing, but still our favorite area. We have Vidanta & Buganvilias units so that we can go every year. Buganvilias is our favorite because we can get off-site so easily! (There is a good dentist over the OXXO across the street from the Buganvilas.)

Yes, unfortunately, I just read some bad news about crime in some areas of Nayarit. I am hoping and praying Mexico will overcome its crime problems because it is truly one of the most beautiful countries in the world!
