Last night DD#2 was celebrating her birthday with friends (14 people in all).

They went to her favorite steak house. After being seated for 45 minutes, and still not having ordered even drinks, she went to the talk to the manager. He was in the lounge. The manager sent 2 additional waitresses to the table to take care of them.

Headed back to the table, she spots a pickle machine. Thinking it would be a good distraction for her party, she buys 15 pickles, shuffles them, keeps 2, and passes the other 13 around to the remaining people in her party.

She had triple 7's which paid $599. The only other winning ticket was for $1. That person threw it at her and said, 'here, make it an even $600'.

We call them pickles here. Long before we had lottery tickets in Nebraska, we had pickles. We were late getting lottery tickets.

Bingo halls (have runners called 'pickle girls'), men's clubs associated to religous groups or youth sports clubs. I think they are typically fundraisers for non-profits organizations.

They are just like instant lottery tickets though. Typically 5 or so strips you pull.

Called "Pull Tabs" most places, I think.
