We recently found out that we, as owners at one of our resorts, Willow Valley near Boone NC, are granted free (year-round) greens fees and free day-use of the indoor pool facilities. The golf course, Willow Creek (par 3), is only open April 1st - October 1st since this is snowy ski country and we have a winter ski week. But we're also able to get owner-occupied rental nights at half price, at 21 days out. We'd like to book a long weekend in the next month. :whoopie: There's a great list of other things to do in the area by Tombo, in this thread, but it doesn't mention specific golf courses, open to the public.

Where else is there decent golf in the area??? DH is an okay golfer, doesn't get to go very often. I go along for the ride and company. If you've seen the courses, could you please share something about them - maintenance, difficulty, fees, views? THANK YOU for your help!!!

Lisa,

We are planning on spending a week in Banner Elk sometime next year and here are four courses that I am considering playing. Boone Golf Club in Boone, Hawks Nest in Banner Elk, Mountain Glen Golf Club in Newland and Redtail Mountain in Mountain City, Tenn

"www.thegolfcourses.net" is a website that has specific information on the these courses. Just go to NC and Tenn and click on the cities.

The courses, other than Hawks Nest, also have their own website.

I have played Hawks Nest but it has been many years. It is part of a ski resort and is mountainous. The Boone Golf Club in in the city, in the valley and is fairly flat but looks like a nice course. Mountain Glen also is a valley course. Redtail Mountain is the nicest course with the best views. It is located on US 421 about 18 miles west of Boone.

Have fun!!!
