I got home a little late last night so we decided to use a free delivery from GrubHub. We decided on The Golden Duck on King Street. We were kind of celebrating our two year anniversary of coming to Hawaii and since I drive by this place everyday and we wanted to try something different, this place popped into both of our heads.

Like many Chinese restaurants the menu is huge but my wife settled on the Golden Duck Plate. It has Duck, Cold Ginger Chicken, Pork Chow Mein and Fried rice. I had the House Special Fried Rice. We chose Fried Chicken Wings, Egg Rolls and Cream Cheese Crab Puffs as Appetizers.

Everything was really good and it is now my wife’s favorite for Chinese. Portions were huge and the prices are reasonable. She had some for lunch today and still has more left over.

Here’s the menu.

While on the island don’t over look these small local places. We are finding most of them excellent.

Then on a side note, I woke up this morning to a colorful morning sky.

It is crazy.

I forgot another part of my wife’s plate was Cold Ginger Chicken. I just added it to my original post. It is something she has always wanted to try and she loved it.

I would love to try their duck. I absolutely love duck. A friend and I used to get the best Peking Duck at a tiny little restaurant in the San Francisco Bay area. We would call when we were leaving work for take out. If they got too busy they stopped doing take out orders.

Duck is one of my favorites too. One nice thing about Oahu is that I can get it all over the island.

Yup this has been a favorite of my brother & mom for several years. Although they say it's a bit far from Nuuanu to King St ;) , assuming it's the restaurant by Piikoi St?

I think they liked their mochiko chicken too, but that might be another hole in the wall, a block or so nearby...

A lot of those neighborhood Chinese restaurants, mostly takeout, have a dinner plate with an assortment sample of dishes. Good if you want a variety.

Yes, that is the one. I love Mochiko Chicken so I’ll have to try that next time.
