Hello I am looking for some ideas to do the tours and etc at a good cost. 8 kids in this economy is killing us.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I understand Busch gardens is closed at this time we are leaving on Thursday 11-13-08 for a week and I have been looking on the net and am terrified.

We are staying at the Governors Green Wyndham properties. As I said any suggestions on what to do with 8 of them all close in age 14-10 would be appreciated. 2 sets of twins. LUCKY me right!

Thanks!

Holly

We used http://www.gowilliamsburg.com/ for our ticket packages in April but we did it all. Since BG is closed the do everything pass they sell would be $350 for everyone. It gets all the living musuems as many times as you want for 7 days. We really liked them all.

One day trip that we did that was relatively inexpensive was going over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel to the Eastern Shore. An engineering marvel and a neat drive. We saw a submarine going over one of the tunnels as we were driving up to it to go through.

Have fun.

If you are planning to see Colonial Williamsburg for more than 2 days, the Freedom Pass would be the way to go. For eight kids, these passes are approx $26 each if bought online (adults would be $53 each).

That also gives you ½ price admission to some of the evening programs which the kids might enjoy (Ghost tours, reenactments of witch or pirate trials, or being a soldier for a few hours). Check out http://www.colonialwilliamsburg.com.
There can be some interesting performances in the Kimball theatre as well. You may want to check out the Crystal Concert.
If you can get all the kids to DC the museums as always are free.

And there's always a day at the movies or the bowling alley.

Jamestown

Grandkids, who were a little younger then, enjoyed Jamestown Settlement.

Ask if you have access to the arcade at Kings Gate, as my DH and son (with friends) went there and didn't want to leave the freeplay arcade, or putt putt, and it wasn't any additional cost, but as a Kingsgate guest my DH had to pay a $5 fee

To me, this would be sheer misery.
Except for maybe 1 or 2 "thinkers," they are likely to be bored to tears by CW. They'd prob'ly have more fun if you gave 'em a shovel and asked them to dig a hole to China.

I like the idea of an arcade, or how about renting all the Shrek and Pixar movies you can find and seeing if the resort can find a sitter.
