What is a fair fee to pay for a rental agency? Of course would not pay anything up-front. Do the better ones charge a flat fee or a percentage of the rental amount, and how much?

Thanks!

As far as I know there really isn't any good rental agencies for timeshares in general. In some cases there are local agencies that specialize in a particular area. There are also resorts who will act as a rental agent. They can probably get the best prices but they typically charge 20-40% and can not guarantee that your unit will rent and may rent out less than the full week. They also may have their own inventory that they rent out first. So unless you know that your week sells out 95% of the time it may not be worth the risk.

Most timeshare rentals end up being DIY.

If you are talking Wyndham, there are points managers. They generally require you to be gold or platinum. They offer a flat rate to take over your account for the year and will rent you back any reservations you need. Depending on your MF's per point you may come out a little ahead or not. My understanding is they are not big moneymakers just close to break even offers for those that don't want to deal with larger points accounts for owners who can't or won't sell.

I talked to Wyndham and they could not help with the points manager. Does anybody know if there is a Wyndham name for the program? I talked with a reservationist and a supervisor.

NOT a Wyndham run program.

There are independent businesses which are the Points Managers. You have to have enough points to make it worthwhile plus as a prior poster clarified ... the member number needs to be GOLD or PLATINUM level of ownership.

Running ads and keeping all the points reservations PLUS then getting clients to RENT and collecting the rent plus adding the Guest's Name to the correct reservation .. is WORK.

I would suspect that these points managers evaluation the ownership as to any ARP plus HOW many included Guest Certificates are available for the number of points. In future years, ARP might become REAL IMPORTANT .. right now it is a NUMBERS game (of cancel & rebook with upgrades).

Wow! I really don't have an interest in renting (DIY).
490000 total and 2 Vida pic. Am gold, with 2 years platinum. Just wanted to break even on unused points. I have no intent to buy more. Don't want to burden my chidren, if they want it,
Or more importantly myself with more mf.

Show off......

I don't even feel well enough to go add my crap up. But I have a bunch of fixed weeks also ... as do you, Ron. Should we count WHAT those points add into the final count?

PS Summer cold. :(
