Checked in yesterday with wife and family, and of course member services asks if they can stop by in the am with some "gifts" - 2 beer cozies and a splash card discount card. They asked how we booked, how many points we own, etc. etc... They were there to make sure we are getting the most out of our Wyndham ownership. We of course told him we bought resale, which he said excludes us from certain perks of buying through Wyndham. The biggest lost for us would be the Ammenities Cards which allows us of up to 8 day passes at the waterparks. They also mentioned that there are no more Glacier Canyon deeds available. Of course he asked us how much we can afford to add more to our vacations, of course we said we were good right now. He of course said the prices only go up, usually 4 times a year. We didn't bite. Also, he said WYNDHAM MAY EVENTUALLY LIMIT RESALE OWNERS TO ONLY USE THE RESORT THAT THE DEED WAS PURCHASED. Besides the little visit from Wyndham, everything else has been great. However, my wife noticed they no longer have hair dryers in the bathrooms, as well as a radio in the kitchen. I guess they have had too many get stolen, per Wyndham guy. I have 2 questions, the first is can they limit the owner to only that one resort if purchased resale? Secondly, would I still be entitiled to an Ammenities Card even though I am a resale owner from Glacier Canyon?

No, there is no way for them to limit to only the deeded resort. The points system would collapse. I've heard the daypasses were only given to early developer purchases at GC. There is no way to get them if you bought resale.

We were there last weekend, and also back in February. There was a hairdryer in our bathrooms both trips. I've never seen a radio in the kitchen though.

Sales hogwash. Enjoy your vacation. Wyndham's system hinges on the reality that, with the exception of fixed week owners, everyone's pounts are assigned to the internal exchange system. Sales has been making that claim for years as a scare tactic but in reality, such a move would have a devastating effect on the entire system. It is a popular notion with the sales staff but nothing more.

Hey Prtyof7:

First mistake was not having "gift"
spelled out in detail or maybe it was not ducking parking pass desk! If not detailed the trinkets you got are SOP.

To clarify there are at least three entites involved in a Wyndham purchase.

Wyndham sales ensnares you. However, if your payments are current or deed is paid off then they are out of the picture. However, if you went for VIP then they control these non-deeded sales incentives which cost them some $12 million per last report. Deeded rights cannot be changed.

Your resort HOA runs the resort, sets HOA fee, mans the check in desk, provides housekeeping, etc.

The VOI Trust runs the generally common functions such as reservations, RCI membership, etc.

If you dig out your deed and VOI Trust document no where will you find any provision for treating resale reservations any differently than Developer purchases.

In one account, assuming all deeds have exact same ownership all of your points are co-mingled, Developer, resale, credit pool, converted weeks, CWA, etc. Reservations can tell but unless CWA or ARP doesn't care. Generally one can specify which points to use although default is earliest expiring. Generally have to talk with supervisor!

RCI has no idea. Points are points.

Short answer is NO WAY JOSE!

As far as resort ammenties policy is up to resort. I have found that some resorts do treat original buyers different than non owners in who gets some room choice, freebies, etc. Would have to look at check in package.

How could prices be going up 4 times a year if resort is sold out? Is salesperson referring to resale market?

As best I recall , Wyndham rack rate peaked around $21,000 for 100K points. Based on posts and my recent ventures into lions den rate is around $15K-$17K although have seen a couple much lower.

If you feel like it, see if you get offered the freebees to see if Re-Sale owners are being offered them. You do not have to take them. With all the emphisis on selling existing owners, my guess is you will be offered the freebees.

Unless you live near the resort, why would you care about a day pass anyway?

Joe

Well, the OP is about 75 minutes away from the resort. They could be of some use to him (although the price difference of retail versus resale could buy a lot of passes to other parks or rentals at GC).

Was offered the 'freebies' when I picked up my parking pass. Declined and was not bothered again. Had a great Easter weekend--Dawn
