Given the higher points required is this a good deal?

I have a few hundred k of starpoints accumulated. No travel plans so I can't book ahead before the big devaluation and perhaps that devaluation is already in effect, but would it be better to convert them to airlines points?
If so which has the best bang for the buck?
Thanks and I love this forum as I have learned so much.

We rarely stay in Starwood hotels and use our Starpoints to convert to airline miles. In April we are flying 4 people from Pittsburgh to Honolulu first class on American using our Standpoints. Works for us.

Converting our StarPoints to airline points is our contingency plan if we cannot use all of them and Marriott devalues them as part of the merger.

My crystal ball predicts American will destroy their redemption chart in 2017.

I am planning to convert to AA miles (flights to USVI) when they offer another conversion bonus. And not accumulate SPs anymore (sadly) - unless AA screws their customers as well.

If you do plan to use for SPG Hotels - make your reservations now for those hotels that are going up in Category. I did this over last few years (Napa and Petaluma CA) - and sure glad I did - they have jumped 2 Cats.
