There have been a number of postings regarding the rules about NOT renting a timeshare unit that was obtained through RCI or II. I find myself in the position of having a week that was meant to be shared with a friend -- and now that friend can't use the week.

I think I saw a question about...what if I give it to somebody <a member> here on TUG...wouldn't it seem fair to at least recoup the Guest Certificate fee?

I'd like to list it on the last minute rentals for the cost of the certificate. Will that 'fly' ?
Thoughts?

Yes - the LMR board is the right place to list it - and thanks, very generous!

I believe it is okay to also recoup the exchange fee.

I think I've read posts that both the exchange fee and guest certificate fee can be recouped without breaking the rules. Also depending on when the week of usage is, you can cancel the exchange and get your week back. Also, some of the exchange fee may be returned.

Yes, RCI's rules permit recovering the exchange fee and the guest certificate fee. II doesn't allow any recovery.
