How do I go about gifting one of my units to my daughter? Is this something Marriott does or do I need a company to change the name? I tried searching in the Marriott postings but couldn't find it.

Do you mean having her become the owner or giving her a stay?

If it's an owned Aruba week you'll need to changes to deed (for Aruba a Certificate rather than deed) to her name. LT Transfers is my first choice, not totally sure if they do Aruba. You'll need your original share certificate, complete the transfer forms and pay any fees. Contact MVC, they have a packet they'll email to you that describes the process and gives you the forms needed.

For Aruba, since it is only the "certificate" and not a deed, Marriott can do all the work. You'd need to talk to the Ownership Transfer Group.
This info is a bit old, but hopefully it hasn't changed. I reached out to them about putting my ownership in a trust, and I was sent the below info. I'd "assume" this is the same for gifting to a family member, but can't guarantee that.

FROM MVC:
Before we can change, add or remove a name from your Aruba Certificate, we require the following:
  • Outstanding loans must be paid off if all current owners will not remain on the deed before we can complete the transfer. We cannot add new owners or remove current owner(s) from an inventory when there is an open loan.
  • Maintenance fees must be paid up to date.
  • Complete the external transfer form provided (see attached).
  • Provide the required documents (such as Original Ownership Certificate, copies of driver's license/passport, etc.).
  • Include the $100.00 transfer fee per week (timeshare interest).
  • Mail documents and fees to the Owner Modifications address listed on the external transfer form.
  • Approximately 2 to 3 weeks after receipt of the completed transfer packet, you will receive the Holiday Ownership Transfer Agreement (HOTA). This document will need to be signed by both the Transferor(s) and Transferee(s) and notarized, then the original (not a copy) returned to Owner Modifications at the address on the External Transfer form.
  • The transfer will be completed within 30 business days after the receipt of the signed and notarized HOTA.
There are certain circumstances when we will require additional documentation other than what is listed above. A transfer specialist will contact you once we receive your transfer request to inform you if we need additional documentation.

Aruba Transfers:
  1. For a sold week (or weeks), please contact Marriott Resale Department to obtain a Right of First Refusal Waiver (866)682-4547.
  2. Complete the Aruba Transfer Packet (attached) for each property and return to Marriott Vacation Club with all required documents and fees.
  3. Marriott Vacation Club will prepare the Holiday Ownership Transfer Agreement (HOTA) and send it to the current owner via email (preferred) or mail.
  4. Sign and notarize HOTA and return the original (not a copy) to Marriott Vacation Club.
  5. Once the HOTA is received we will update our records and send out a new Certificate in the correct names.

Very much appreciate the help. I have an ownership week at Aruba Surf Club I bought off Redweek several years ago. We are thinking of selling some of them but have a few of our kids that would like to own as they grew up with Marriott timeshare vacations. My only question, is since it's off Redweek and not direct with Marriott, will she then have to buy her own interval membership?

Yes, in order to exchange it there would have to be a separate II membership if you changed the ownership to her and away from you.

If you have to have an individual II membership and pay for it, then she would have to do the same. If the week is enrolled, it should remain enrolled when transferred to her.

But then she would have to pay MVC/abound club dues which are actually more than just an II account?

True. The decision to be enrolled would depend on several factors. If one opts to exchange through II, then enrollment likely makes sense. Especially with a resort that has lock off units.

When it’s a parent to child ownership transfer of Aruba OC or SC, it’s done entirely within MVC Owner Modifications. There’s no deed in Aruba. It’s an ownership certificate. There is a fee, but it’s fairly nominal. LT Transfers can’t help in that scenario.

Totally agree.
Just pointing out to OP there is an II fee either directly or embedded in dues if she transfers week to her daughter.
