GEVC @ Fantasy World Club Villas Needing to Check in 2.5 Miles Away?

Hello,

We are going to Orlando for 2 weeks, August 28- September 11th.

We are looking at Last Call Bookings For the week of 8/28 (9/4 will become available in 7 days) and we want to try some different resorts down there.

One really weird thing, it looks like Fantasy World Club Villas requires us to check in 2.5 Miles away from the resort to get our room keys? Is that accurate? Is there a shuttle do we to to the main hotel and they drive us back and forth? What is the story there?

So far we have only been in Marriott, Shearton, and Whydham branded hotels I want to try something outside the ecosystem, but this seems like a PITA.

Has anyone done this?

I am thinking we may just book the Whydam Cypress it is right nearby so gives us the same area but without the hassle. That being said if anyone can tell me how this works, we will probably book it for our second week if only to try the brand.

We checked in right at the resort, twice (2 different years).

What's semi-odd is that both times we got assigned to the same unit. That could have been just random coincidence. Or, if our reservations were both GEVC (not sure -- & it's not worth trying to look up), then maybe we got the same unit because only a few of the Fantasy World units are GEVC, making it more likely to get 1 of those (or, in our case, the very same 1).

Good idea would be to call up the front desk and ask what's up with having to check in 2½ miles from the resort. I'm sure they'd be happy to set matters straight.

BTW -- even with the bedrooms upstairs, we had a great time at Fantasy World. The location is great. The water park is superb -- our granddaughters & the friends they brought with them had a fabulous time.

@AwayWeGo So I called them, and yes the confirmed that you can not check in at the front desk anymore, you have to go to Seville, it is over 2 miles away they don't provide transport, can "should do everything you can not to come after hours and if you have to let them know they will do their best to check you in". They said the alerts on RCI are accurate. That is weird to me. Here is what RCI says:

"CHECK-IN INSTRUCTIONS: DO NOT USE GPS TO LOCATE RESORT CHECK IN. Check-in is at the neighboring Club Sevilla Resort, 4646 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, Kissimmee, FL 34746. GEVC at Fantasy World is located 2.3 miles from the check-in location. If arriving late, you MUST contact the resort in advance for check-in procedures. Please call Club Sevilla ..."

Too much of a hassle, glad I checked. Very weird.
