I am the proud owner of way too many weeks at Real Resorts in Mexico, which we happen to love. I am trying to arrange a vacation to Italy september 2009. RCI won't talk to me unless I have weeks deposited, but Real says to investigate the properties I'm interested in and then call them back. So I haven't been able to deposit any weeks, and I can't talk to RCI. What gives?

Welcome to TUG! :hi:

What do they mean by "investigate the properties you are interested in and then call them back?" To me this is odd, because the resort will have nothing to do with making the exchange. Could Real Resorts have an internal exchange program that they are talking about, instead of using RCI?

If you want to look at reviews for Italian resorts, you should join TUG ($15) and then you will have access to the members only review pages. Currently, we have reviews for 38 different Italian resorts.

I don't know about the internal exchange, but I have an RCI number, so I should be able to exchange my weeks, except that there is this massive block on both sides! Should I insist? To whom?

I am now a member of TUG, and thanks to anyone who can advise me here.

I am confused- are you looking for an internal trade within the Real properties because I thought they only had Mexico properties? Go to rci.com and you can see what properties they have available for trade by looking at their online directory. Then go to www.tripadvisor and read up on each resort- then decide. When you deposit your weeks you can then tell rci what resorts you will accept in your destination and the dates of travel. It is not hard. Why does Real properties care about where you want to go in Italy, unless they will be arranging the reservation which it sounds like they are not? Call them and tell them you want to deposit your weeks and they should be able to help you do that. Otherwise- they have nothing to do with your arrangements and subsequent trading with RCI.

Congrats on joining! Here is a link to the TUG Reviews - so you can research Italian Resorts. You have been sent a separate password to access the review section, but you use the same user name (me53mvd.) The direct link to the reviews is in the red bar under TUG Resort Databases.

Yes - I would call owner services at the resort and simply tell them you want to deposit your weeks with RCI, without getting into a long discussion. If they refuse, find out why, and we will try to help you figure it out.
Good Luck! :hi:
