Parking is $19 a day at this resort. Do I get free parking at the resort since I am a Marriott owner at MOW. Or do I still need to pay the parking fee? Is it necessary to have a car at this resort or is there shuttle services available from the airport? If so, what is the typical cost?

There is a shuttlebus from the Reno airport - don't remember it being very expensive. Some park in the casino parking lots which are free and about 2 blocks away. If you are going just to ski and gamble, you do not need a car.

I stayed at Timber Lodge last October (07) and they did not charge me the parking fee because I was a Marriott owner (at MOC).

I'm going to Timber Lodge Dec 6! I can't wait!!!!

I would call the resorts direct line and ask someone at the front desk if your status as a Marriott owner qualifies you for free parking even though you are there via a Getaway.

Was there about a month ago and was not charged for parking for the first car. Any additional cars will have have to pay the parking fee. All parking is by valet.

Since I drove there I am not familar with shuttles, cabs and what they charge. The Tahoe airport is close but if you are landing at Reno it probably would be a very expensive cab ride to the hotel. A car would be cheaper.

I believe it is necessary to have a car at this resort because there is much to do and see in the area. However, if you just want to stay in South Lake Tahoe you can get along fine without a car. Timberlodge's location is excellent as you can walk to the casinos, restaurants and the gondola. Grocery shopping is close but I think the hotel also has a shuttle. If you want to go for a boat ride on the lake they will pick you up at the hotel.

It's a great place to vacation.

I always get a car/SUV to get around (as I miss driving in the snow where I live), but I had to take a bus back once due to leaving my friends before I had planned to (and left them the SUV). I took a luxury coach back down to Reno.

It was convenient and I had a departing drink without worry!

$26.00* per person one way
$46.50* per person round trip

This is also a good way to go for those people who indicated they were worried about driving in bad weather(probably smart beacuse SoCal-ers like me on the roads!).

The Embassy Suites stop is adjacent to the Marriott.

There are no commercial flights into the Tahoe airport. The closest airport is in Reno - about 45 min. away. I'd rent a car - there is so much to see in the area that you can't get to without a car. My Tahoe Travel Page

We have stayed there on a Getaway and the first car was free - we are not owners.
