Folks, Like most of you I'm trying to get rid of a timeshare.

Dan Davis of Lake Mary, Florida has offered to accept a title transfer to his company "Get out of Timeshares", which is apparently also "Trivest Financial". He also proposes using a title company called "Timeshare Closings For Less", also in Lake Mary, Florida. Dan's fee is $895, the title company charges $250, and presumably all funds stay in escrow until the title is actually transferred.

I'd sure feel better about this if someone had any experience working with Dan and these companies ! I've checked BBB and everything looks good, so can anyone offer additional guidance ? Perhaps personal experience ?

Thanks in advance for any feedback ! Doug

Have you tried to give away on TUG first? Or offer it for a buck on eBay? Generally it does not work to pay anyone to 'get rid' of your timeshare. Once you pay them, there is no incentive for them to find a buyer.

Read the stickies above on how to sell or give away your TS. Hundreds have been successful without paying an upfront fee.

Good luck!

We've tried to give it away for two years on TUG and other mediums. We've also listed it with a no-up-front-charge realtor, but of course no takers. this is not a "seller", it's a buyer who takes the title, and does not get paid until the title company has transferred title to their name.

Keep putting it up on the freebies.

Some people are looking for something very specific maybe you have what they are looking for. I personally don't look past a couple of weeks in the freebies. Post it and bump it to the top every few days.

Best of luck

Most of us are not trying to get out of timeshares. We are using them to enhance our vacations. Naturally, what you need to own for your own purposes changes, and many of us adjust our portfolios for that reason from time to time.

This looks like a PCC arrangement when you are paying someone to take the timeshare off your hands. Be aware that many of the national management companies are now starting to pushback against these clowns and it they convey it to an LLC to be cast away as many PCC's do, then you might find yourself sued for fraudulent conveyance down the road by your HOA.

Another suggestion: Try a free $1 auction at www.bidshares.com
