About 5 years ago I had myself genetically tested at a major hospital which at the time was in the forefront of genetic testing. I don't know how it is today but back then they insisted on a 3 generation family tree with the ages and causes of death of all those in the tree before they would proceed with the testing. Medicare wouldn't pay because I wasn't able to satisfy some pretty rigid requirements. But the hospital set it up so I could pay the lab directly which made the cost reasonable. They actually called in my Credit Card Information when setting things up with the lab. The truth is that I paid more to get the required family tree completed than for the lab results. I'm sure things have changed dramatically since I was tested. Nonetheless I'm glad I had it done...
